Apple iPhone/iPod Touch – Find the Wireless Ethernet Address
To get connected to the Wireless Network at UCC, you first need to register at http://www.ucc.ie/wireless At this page you will need to enter the Physical Address of the device.
1. On the home screen, Click on the Settings button
2. Click on General
3. Click on ‘About’
4. Scroll down until you see the ‘Wi-fi Address’ This is what you need to enter on the registration web page. You will need iPhone Software version of at least 2.0 to connect to the Wireless network and to use UCC email.
Apple iPhone/iPod Touch – UCC Wireless Configuration
1. On the home screen, Click on the Settings button
2. Click on Wi-fi
3. Click on ‘Other’
4. Enter ‘UCC Staff’ (NB, Upper case/Lower Case) and then click on ‘Security’
5 Click on WPA2 Enterprise, and then click on ‘Other Network’ to go back.
6. Enter your username and your password that you received from the helpdesk and click ‘Join’.
7. It will present a warning about the certificate, Click ‘Accept’
8. After about 30 seconds the connection should be configured, and you should see the network listed along with a padlock. Click on the blue arrow next to the name
9. The IP address should start with 10.52.x,x. Scroll down the screen. After a short time the 3G logo should change to a wireless logo to indicate you’re connected.
10. Under ‘HTTP Proxy’ choose manual, and enter the following server: 10.52.255.250 and port 8080.
Now launch Safari, and you should be able to surf the internet!
Apple iPhone/iPod Touch – UCC Email Configuration
1. Click on the Settings button
2. Scroll down, and click on ‘Mail Contacts, Calendars’
3. Select ‘Microsoft Exchange’
4. Enter your email address, your username including the domain separated with a back slash, and your email password. (To locate a back slash, click on the ‘,?123 button’ and then click on the ‘#+= ‘ button.) Then click on next
5. Then enter ‘email.ucc.ie’ as the Server.
6. If you scroll down, you can also enter a description of the account, such as ‘ucc’. Click next. It will take a few seconds to confirm your account, if it fails, verify the information.
7. Choose what you wan to synchronise, and then click save.
8. You can then set some basic settings regarding the account.
9. On the home screen, click on Mail
10. The first time, it will take a few seconds to load your mail.
11. Then all your mail will appear. In settings you can choose to view only a few days worth of email, or whatever suits you.
12. Also, in settings you can choose to have the email pushed to your phone, or manually fetched.
