Its use and disclosure are strictly limited. Purpose/Scope This document details the steps and settings to use when configuring an Apple iPhone to access the District’s Exchange email system. Version History Change Date 8/12/08 9/15/08 Changed By Bill Honaker Bill Honaker Change Reason Initial release Updated for iPhone firmware 2.1 Version 1.0 2.0 SDUSD Confidential Page 3 of 9 Procedures SDUSD Information Technology Department Apple iPhone Setup and Support Apple has released version 2.0 of the iPhone firmware which now supports Microsoft Exchange email systems via the ActiveSync protocol. This means that district users with iPhones can now access their work email, calendar and contacts from their iPhones. The new 3G version of the iPhone comes with version 2.0 firmware already installed. However, first generation iPhones will need to be upgraded before they can be configured to support the District’s Exchange email. Please see Apple’s website for more information on upgrading. http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/ Please note that the IT Department supports the setup and configuration of Exchange email on the iPhone. Please contact the IT Help Desk if you need assistance with these instructions.
