                                             There are three contract lengths

              Academic Year (autumn through spring)

                          Most Common Problems

u  Applying for the wrong quarter or type of housing
u  Submitting only one application when seeking housing
starting summer and continuing through the following year
u  Not listing enough application choices
u  Do not indicate they are willing to live anywhere and lose
their guarantee (commitment doesn’t include most
    expensive or least private options)
u  Missing the Lottery deadline or not renewing annually
u  Confusion about contract lengths (academic year)
u  Groups: continuing and new students applying together
u  Do not list the same choices as their group members
u  Do not maintain enrollment and have to move out of
housing (exceptions for summer & vacation quarter)
u  PhD students here for more than 6 years out of priority
§  Can be strategic about how housing years are used
§  A year only counts during the autumn or winter
§  Timing a leave or research for those terms and returning in
spring will give them an extra year
