                                        SUMMARY REPORT

Report to: Open Board of Directors

Date: 19 September 2012

Subject: CQC Community Mental Health Services Survey Results 2012

From: Liz Lightbown, Executive Director of Nursing and Integrated Governance

Prepared by: Tania Baxter, Head of Integrated Governance

1. Purpose

Attached are the official results from the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC’s) 2012 Community
Mental Health Services Survey. The Trust’s interpretation of these results was reported to the
Quality Assurance Committee in July 2012. The official results shown will be published on the
CQC’s website on 13 September 2012 and as such the results were embargoed for internal use
     only until the publication date.

2. Summary

The survey results show that in the majority of questions Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS
Foundation Trust (SHSC) was viewed as ‘the same’ as other Trusts. SHSC scored ‘better than’
other Trusts in 3 areas, namely:

     Talking Therapies
Taking service user views into account
Care plans that set out goals

The survey is split into nine different sections, with one of these being an ‘overall’ rating. SHSC
scored ‘the same’ in all but two sections, these being Health and Social Care Workers and
Talking Therapies, where the Trust was deemed to be ‘better’ than other Trusts. The overall
rating scored by the Trust in the 2012 survey was deemed to be ‘the same’ as other Trusts.

The response rate for the survey was 32%, which was comparable with all other participating
     Trusts.

3. Next Steps

The results will be published by the CQC on 13 September 2012 and can be accessed via this
     link http://www.cqc.org.uk/public/reports-surveys-and-reviews/surveys.

The results will be circulated to members of the Operational Delivery Group and to key
     stakeholders, once published.

This report has been presented to the Quality Assurance Committee at their September meeting.
