Online social network environments enable user to add one and another as friends. Social networking sites’ users have a variety of forms of communication and information share: e.g. forum, personal profile, blogs. What is online social network?  The most popular social networking website is Myspace. But there are hundreds of others that successfully exist.  What is online social network?  Social networking sites with at least 1million users registered. New phenomenon  Social networking is       making noises recently. a place for you. a place for marketers. a place for scammers. a place for predators. a place for journalists. New phenomenon  Social networking websites’ total value of unique visitors is over 70% of total internet population in USA. It increased to 51 million in May 2006. Myspace will be worth USD 15 billion in three years. Google recently agreed paying at least 900 million USD for Myspace banner place for 3 years. Social networking economy    Facebook is worth around 1 billion USD. Yahoo woos social networking site. Yahoo offered 900 million USD but Facebook founder requested 2 billions. Social networking economy    Bebo rejected 552 million USD and requested 1 billion USD to British telecommunication group. 25 million registered users. 3 billion page views a month. Social networking economy  Owner of Myspace profile layouts site Pimpmyspace and Myspaceeditor earned 200.000 USD in June 2006. Side effects Kids predators     Mother found her 13 years old daughter got new boy friend from Myspace whose age is 15. But he was 24 years old adult. More than 2,600 incidents adult using internet to entice kids in 2005. Many parents do not think their kids have Myspace profiles. Sexual predators are active in place where teens do not make good decisions and parents do not pay attention. Personal information exposure   Many people have no understanding what they post is public, potentially permanent and accessible by anyone in the world. Sexual predators easily get information of teens. Conclusion Conclusion       Social networking has been not only place for fun but place for marketing and promotion. It is new phenomenon that had not been before and suddenly became a thing that is acquired by biggest companies. More and more people use it and more start-ups around social networking websites are opened. Since many people use it and it has feature that personal information is easily exposed. New technique will be come up to prevent vulnerabilities it has now.
