1. The purposes to develope Typing-Rocket soft.

      This soft was developed to assist an acquisition of the higher typing
skills for infants, children, students and adults. Utilizing a little pad fixed on
Key-A, F, J,";", it can be attained easily a “blind-touch” typing.
     In order to adapt to a globalized world, much of people are required to
use high level of English in their jobs, tours, hobbies, readings, etc.
Blind-touch typing of high-speed might be helped to acquire skills of
high-level English.
     For the college students and business people, it is required to input the
alphabets or the “Roman-characters” into a computer with high speed.
Blind-touch typing is available for those people to make a report and a
document in a short period.

    A pianist plays piano without seeing a key boards, and concentrates to
express music. The reason is that the hands and body of him memorized the
space position of target keys. This memory never disappear in his/her life.
If we have expertise skills like a typist, these skills might be working well not
only typing but also listening of English. The development of typing skills is
expected to contribute to an acquisition of English. Children who get
high-skills in typing may reach a high-level of English.

   In order to assist an exercise of Novice, a virtual key-board appears on
the screen, and guides a next character with “red color”. Right or wrong key-
input is informed respectively by a different “sound”.

2. A preparation for using

  The program soft is developed to assist a novice learn “blind-touch” skills
for typing in short period, not seeing a real key board. In such reason, it
needs several preparations before begins a practice.
  1) Fix a little circle pad (2mm (thick) x 5mm (diameter)) on (Key-A, Key-F,
Key-J, and Key-;).
This kind of pad can buy in a craft shop. Put your left little finger on A, left
index finger on F, right index finger on J, and right little finger on Key of “;”.
You can always confirm a finger locate on a right position through a feeling
from a pad. Keep your four fingers on right positions after finished a typing.
Doing this might be helping to get high skills of typing.
 2) To get skills of blind touch, it needs to shut out information from a real
key board. Cover your hands and key board by a handkerchief or a soft
paper.


3. The usage of fingers to input an alphabet.

1) The keys appear on a screen are colored corresponding with ten each
finger. The most outer zones in left and right keys are manipulated with little
fingers (colored with light purple). Next zones are manipulated with ring
fingers (colored with blue). Next zones are manipulated with middle fingers
(colored with yellow). Central left 8 keys are manipulated with left index
finger (colored with green). Central right 8 keys are manipulated with right
index finger (colored with silver). A space key is manipulated with left or
right thumb finger.
      Keys of A, F, J,”;”( colored with brown) are pivots of typing. A is
manipulated with left little finger. F is left index finger. J is right index finger.
“;” is right little finger. All four keys become bases of typing. Basing on
these keys, the space position of other keys should be learned.


4.   Practice files

    There are 2-kinds of files. One is the practice files of Hiragana for a novice
and middle level of learner. Another is the practiceg files of the Alphabets
for a novice and middle level learner. If you want to prepare more files,
please edit “f51.txt” and”f50.txt” files that can be traced by “Desk-top: Start”
-> Program -> Dr.Ken -> Typing.

5. The acquisition of Blind-Touch

  Suppose you want to press the Key-R. In this case, you first touch the
“Pivot key-A” lightly, and press the Key-R with left little finger. In a case of
pressing Key-P, you fist touch the “Pivot key-J” lightly, and press the Key-P.
By using this manner, the exact position of a target key is easily established.
In this way, a blind touch typing is realized in a short period. In practice,
Key-A or -J become a pivot key. In order to input “r” of “p” in blind touch
exactly, a series of typing of “arar” or “jpjp” are repeated.

6. Begin a practice
  1) Click a “Icon of Typing” that made on a desk top.
        First scene, “Dr.Ken’s Typing Rocket” is appeared. Click “Next”.
  2) It appears a scene of “selection of practice files”
        Select a file, and click “Next”.
  3) It appears a scene of “section of sentence number”
      Choose a sentence among S1 to S10, and click “Start”.
  4) The explanation of a “practice scene”
    a. A practice scene has four Movie Clips( Hits, Misses, UFO-falling speed,
Next character delay time ). When you drag a small bar of UFO, the figure of
it will change. In case of “0”, UFO will stop.
When you drag a small bar of Next character, the figure of it will change. In
case of “0”, a red color on virtual key will guide immediately a position of
next input character. In case of “9”, a red color will disappear. It is
recommended to set “0” for a novice. According to a typing skills
development of the learner, the figure becomes larger. To set like this, the
learner is given to make an image of key position that may lead to a blind
touch typing.

 b. There is an UFO that has a practice sentence in a practice scene. A red
colored character shows a target character to input next, and a red color key
on the virtual board indicates the position of next target key. When an input
character is right, a sound feeds back it.

7. The results of the practice
  1) When you finished a file, the summary results of a practice are shown
on the screen.
  2) The number of Hits, the number of Misses, and an average number of
characters per minute (typing speed) are shown on the middle of the screen.
  3) The left movie clip shows a rank of the typing speed when a new
practice is compared with old practices.
  4) The blinking bar of right Movie Clip shows your typing speed level
comparing to fast typists.
