Subject: Information for CVE Workshop

Dear Participants,

Thank you for registering for the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE)
Workshop for the National Capital Region on July 11-12, 2012 at the CIA
Headquarters auditorium. We look forward to meeting you! We are
expecting about 200 state and local law enforcement from the area. Please
send any questions about the workshop to me at JennyLP@nctc.gov , Caroline
Simmons at Caroline.Simmons@hq.dhs.gov, or Nate Snyder at
Nathaniel.Snyder@hq.dhs.gov. My number is 703 275 2597. Several important
items:

1. Clearance to enter CIA: Please send your Social Security Number to
Roger Kelly of the CIA Threat Management Unit at rogerlk@ucia.gov or
703-482-6037. If you have a blue IC badge, there is no need to submit
security info.

2. Agenda: Attached.

3. Meals: We cannot provide lunch for this workshop. We will all be
eating in the CIA food court, and there’s a good selection. Please bring
cash to pay for your lunch, as they don’t accept credit cards.

4. Read-aheads: This workshop is based on a strategy that was released
from the White House last August on Empowering Local Partners to Prevent
Violent Extremism in the United States.

5. Arrival information: The workshop starts at 8:30 on Day 1, please
arrive just after 7:30 am to allow enough time to be cleared, parked, and
shuttled from the gate to the auditorium (the workshop location).

All workshop participants must enter the George Bush Center of Intelligence
in McLean Virginia via the main gate off of Dolley Madison Boulevard, near
the intersection with Savile Lane. After turning into the entrance you’ll
need to be in the right lane. Follow the signs marked “Visitors”. Once you
pull up to the gate an SPS police officer will speak to you over an
intercom. They will ask you why you are here. Please respond saying you are
here to attend the CVE workshop. They will then ask for your social
security number; followed by directing you to pull up to a uniformed police
officer. That officer will hand you a visitor badge and a sheet of paper
with parking instructions. Please display your visitor badge above the
waist and where it can be easily seen. A CVE representative will be posted
at the main gate should you encounter any problems. ****

The specific parking lot will be marked on the handout and two sign boards
will direct you to a designated site within the Purple lot. From there you
will be placed on a shuttle and driven to the Auditorium. A shuttle bus
will remain at the Auditorium should you need to return to your vehicle at
anytime during the workshop. Attendees will be shuttled back to their
vehicles at the end of each day of the workshop. Attendees who possess a
valid IC badge are strongly encouraged to follow the two sign boards and
park in the designated area inside the purple lot.

Please note:

All cell phones, radios, and two way transmitters must be left in your
vehicle. Outside phone lines will be available should they be needed during
the workshop.

Firearms can be worn as long as they are covered and/or an official law
enforcement badge is displayed.

You should plan on eating lunch here at the facility and/or bringing it
with you.

Thanks so much! We’re looking forward to it.
