                                         Purchasing Manager


Plans, supervises and coordinates all purchasing activities for Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority
with the overall objective of ensuring compliance with CMHA purchasing policy and appropriate state,
federal and HUD regulations. Supervises the creation of procurement activities for contract work, ensuring
competitive bids are received and reviewed for adherence to defined scope of work and that the bids are
within budget. Approves bid award and negotiates, develops, administers, and reviews contractual
agreements to meet CMHA’s needs. Maintains and updates the specifications for all CMHA insurances.
Acts as liaison and advocate for CMHA when individual file damage claims, personal property loss or
general liability lawsuits against CMHA.

Minimum requirements:
      Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from an accredited college or university.
      Five years purchasing experience, with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity.
      Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
      Ability to prepare and/or analyze appropriate cost estimates for budgets.
      Ability to interpret regulations, standards and contracts for compliance with relevant requirements
      and Authority’s standards.
      Must have a valid Ohio Drivers license.

Under general direction, is responsible for the development and management of

Examples of Work:
Complies with federal, state and local legal contract and program requirements by
studying existing and new legislation;

Monitors the development and implementation of programs utilizing federal and local
funds;

Confers with federal and other government officials in order to negotiate contracts for
federal financial assistance;

Consults with businesses, developers, governmental authorities, and civic groups in
order to attract, retain or revitalize business and industry;

Monitors the progress of public capital improvements in order to allow business,
industry and developers to maximize their opportunity;

Conducts community information meetings, seminars, and in-house training on
department programs and issues;

Interprets Zoning, Housing and Building Codes to the public, community groups,
nonprofits, developers, and departmental staff;

Reviews the housing, building, planning and other codes to ensure consistency of
terminology;

Prepares background research papers and documents for the Department as required;

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
and reviewing professional publications;

Keeps the administrator informed, in a timely manner, of any situations that will impact
the goals and objectives of a program.


Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in city or regional
planning, community or economic development, code enforcement, social or human
services, public or business administration, or closely related field. Substitution(s): A
master's degree in city or regional planning, business administration, public
administration or closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the
experience.

Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public or private trade and
development under government sponsorship; considerable knowledge of federal and
local regulations affecting trade and development activities; considerable knowledge of

Position Summary

                     WAREHOUSE WORKERS


Glazer’s Distributors, a distributor of fine wines, spirits, and malt beverages has
immediate openings for part-time warehouse workers for the night shift, 20 to 30 hrs
per week.

Responsibilities include pulling orders and loading orders onto delivery trucks.

Requirements include the ability to repetitively lift 25 to 50 pound cases. Ability to
speak, read, and write English.


The part-time position leads to full-time status whenever a full-time position opens up

Alliance Data Systems plans to hire about 400 employees between now and the end of July to work in its
central Ohio locations. The jobs mainly involve making sales and service calls for the store-brand credit
cards managed by Alliance, but there also is need for “collections professionals and supervisors,” said
spokeswoman Shelley Whiddon.

About half of the jobs will be in the company’s call center at 4590 E. Broad St. in Whitehall, while the others
will be divided between the company’s locations at 220 W. Schrock Rd. in Westerville and 3100 Easton
Square Place in northeast Columbus.

“The vast majority of these positions are full time, but there will be some part-time positions available,”
Whiddon said. The company would not disclose a pay range other than to say that        “Alliance offers a
competitive salary” and that benefits include health insurance and a 401(k) retirement-savings plan.

Alliance Data recruits throughout the year and regularly holds job fairs. “We will continue to have recruiting
fairs as needed,” Whiddon said.
