An Open Letter from Marnie Aument-Loughrey,
Candidate for Philadelphia Traffic Court
Hello, may name is Marnie Aument-Loughrey, and I am running for Traffic Court Judge.
Here is a little background about myself. I am 45 years old and the mother of two. My son
Jerremy is currently an apprentice in Local 98, waiting to take his physical for the
Philadelphia Police Department, a graduate of North Catholic High and blessed me with my
grandson, Aiden. My daughter Brianna is currently finishing her second year at Penn State
Main Campus and graduated from Franklin Towne Charter HS. As for myself, I graduated from
Little Flower Catholic HS class of 1983. I was born and raised in the Kensington section
of Philadelphia. I am very active in my community and always have been. At the age of 18
I became a committeeperson. I have been elected to the Home & School Association of all my
children’s school from grade school through high school. I have been a member of the 25th
Police District Advisory Board for over 20 years and I sit on the on the board of the
Kensington Businessman’s Association. I am the president of Kensington Independent Civic Association and have a strong
union background. I was a proud member of Teamsters Local 56 and every member of my family is a union member either
current or retired. The list includes Teamsters Local 56 & 830, Local 98, Local 1199C, PASNAP, Police Lodge 5, Labors
Local 57 and the Assemblers Union.
The reason for my telling of all this is very important so that you can understand a little about me and the reason
I have chosen to run. Traffic Court is somewhere that at sometime either in the past or future you or someone you will
know will be standing in front of a Judge. I feel that a person sitting in judgment should understand should understand
the needs of the person standing there. No one in today’s economy can afford to loose a day’s pay. No one who has a
small business can afford to close their business for a day or have their delivery person unavailable to make
deliveries. One of the things I would propose is to do when elected is to meet with the Administrative Judge and start
one night a week for hearings to be scheduled until 9 p.m. and I will sit that schedule, so that people do not have to
loose a day’s pay.
There are many things that I could go on about that I feel need to be Endorsed by District Attorney Seth Williams
handled differently at Traffic Court but unfortunately this is a short
letter from me to you. The only thing that I can say is help me help you
by casting your vote for me on Tuesday, May 17, and then hold me accountable On Tuesday, May 17, please come

Hello. Once again it is that time of the year, Election Day. On Tuesday, May 17th, we will be voting for our city
officials and judges. At this time I can not suggest a Mayoral Candidate for you, because of a personal reason I will
be voting for T. Milton Street, as I feel Mayor Nutter is a grave disappointment to me. I am however supporting our
council-woman, Maria Quinones-Sanchez, for the following reasons:
1. She has supported and helped secure funding for the following organizations in our community:
Juniata Boys & Girls Cub, Juniata Golf Foundation, Holy Innocents after school program, Juniata Action Committee &
2. Renovation to Piccoli Playground.
3. The expansion of the Cancer Treatment Center, Community Charter & Fairhill Community School at K & Erie.
4. She has also secured a PAL Center to be located at Ramblers Rec. Center.
5. Even though she was not there for the beginning of the project she supported the Twin Homes.
6. Even though she was not the Councilwoman when we started saving Scanlon, she has worked effortlessly with Marnie
& the Ed Snider Foundation, in becoming an all year round facility for our children.
This brings me to my next candidate, Marnie Aument-Loughrey, for Traffic Court Judge. It is time that we start
electing candidates that have helped us in our community. As you are aware, Marnie is my daughter, therefore I feel
a special pride in supporting her. You also know that she has worked in this community with Kensington Independent
Civic Association & the Juniata Park Civic Association. She has been a committee woman for over 20 years & started the
fight to save Scanlon. Now Marnie wants to help even more by becoming a Traffic Court Judge. She feels that with her
community & strong union background she will be an advocate for the everyday person. She would like to start a night
court that runs till 9p.m. so that the working person does not have to take a day off for court. Make it so that payment
arrangements fit the person, not the person fit the plan.
Both Maria & Marnie know that our community needs an advocate. Therefore I am asking for you to come out on Tuesday,
May 17th and VOTE:
Marnie Aument-Loughrey for Traffic Court Judge #157
Maria Quinones-Sanchez for 7th District City Council #191
