Profile:

Carla grew up in the village of Westmeath, a daughter of Harris and
Linda O’Brien. A sister Tracy lives in Australia with a son almost two years
old. Her brother Dwaine lives in Renfrew and has two sons. Terry lives in
Kanata and has one son. Carla has two children. Kristie is in Grade 11
and works part-time at Giant Tiger. Casey is in Grade 8 at the public
school and is in his first year of Bantam hockey with the Westmeath
Warriers.

Some of her many friends during school years were Janet Nieman,
Valerie Johnson, Tossy Melnick, Murray DeRuiter, Gary Vezina and
Steven Derouin. Saturday night skating in the Westmeath rink were fondly
remembered and looked forward too.

After elementary school she graduated from Champlain high school
and went on to college in Pembroke.

Carla is self-employed and operates a business out of her home.
“Carla’s Cuts and Curls” is well known in the area. She has had to build up
her business over a twenty year period. When living in the village for 10
years it was convenient for kids from both schools to get cuts at noon-
hour. Carla is also our area Mary Kay consultant.

Carla and Jason began building their new home in the spring of
2004, moving into it the following November. Since then they have dug a
pond at the back of the house which contains bass, small pond fish as well
as other small critters – even snapping turtles. There is still plenty of
outside work left to do but she is enjoying the challenge.

Carla is very passionate about gardening, finding it most relaxing
especially as the end result is so rewarding. Interior decorating is another
enjoyment and has come in most handy since moving into the new home.
The winter months bring snowmobiling pursuits.
