HUNTSVILLE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, INC
Directors Report for March 2012
We have been involved in a number of conferences and church presentations this month. This always gives us the
opportunity to “sell” HAP. Many of the churches visited have expressed interest in becoming a member.
Some of the people assisted this month were new tornado victims from the North HAP area. Some were hit the first
round a year ago and are experiencing the same type devastation again. We have seen several families again this month
that are having very difficult times due to the economy and no jobs. One woman shared she had a salary of $80,000 last
year, has used all of her savings , etc. and has come to us for food. She is quite typical of the people we are seeing lately.
HAP North is doing very well. We are starting a woman’s non-denominational Bible Study class shortly and a mentoring
class. Our vision has always been to use the North HAP office as a community center. Plans are in the works to see this
come to life.
We have applied for a grant through Huntsville Hospital to increase our prescription drug program. We have also
applied to be a recipient of monies through Taste of Huntsville.
We continue to be very busy at both of our locations. Food and monies seem to go quickly and our clients are very
grateful for what they receive. Please continue to keep all of HAP in your prayers.
Respectfully submitted,
Gayla M. Kidd
