          Study Objective
• To obtain data on fear levels and actual assault
  experienced by the nursing staff in Southwark.
• The aim was to measure the level of safety staff
  feel working and travelling to work in
  Southwark Inpatient Wards at the Maudsley
  Hospital.
• It also measures the confidence staff have in
  police and SLAM management in handling
  matters of assault at work and the protocols
  and procedures that have been implemented
  for their protection.
Safer Neighbourhood Survey

  jointly developed with
  the Metropolitan
  Police Safer
  Neighbourhood Team
  based in Camberwell,
  Southwark.
          Methodology
• Questionnaire designed
• Setting - Maudsley Hospital, South East
  London.
• Participants were all nursing staff
  working within in-patient wards in
  Southwark.
• Respondents (n=126)
• Gender Breakdown
  – Female 49%
  – Male 50%

    took time off work as a result, which is
    63%.
