                                             (NEW AND RENEWAL)
                       for citizens of Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Maldives & Seychelles

Please provide the following documents:

   Original documents supplied must be in English or attach with official English translation. Please also submit
    photocopies of these documents.
   Additional documents may be requested. This will be advised to you when you submit your application.
1. A properly completed and signed Student Visa Application (INZ 1012) form.
2. 2 recent passport size photographs.
3. Application fee to be paid in Singapore Dollars by Visa or Mastercard credit card, debit card**, bank draft or
   Singapore bank cheque made payable to Immigration New Zealand. The fee is NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of
   the outcome of your application. (**when submitting in person)

4. Original passport. If you are unable to provide your original passport, you can submit a certified copy.
5. Unconditional offer of a place letter from a New Zealand education provider stating:
   Name and duration of the course, fee amount, evidence that the course and education provider meets foreign student
    requirements, whether the student is full-time or part-time; and
   Whether course fee is payable and whether fee is domestic or foreign fee; and
   Confirmation that the education provider has assessed and is satisfied the prospective student meets the course competencies
    and enrolment provision (section 7.1) as set out in the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.
   Fee-paying foreign students who are under 18 years old must provide a statement from their education provider confirming that the
    student’s accommodation complies with the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Student.

6. Official receipt for payment of course fee.
7. Funds for living expenses.
    Amount required
        Courses which are more than 36 weeks - funds of NZ$15,000 per year
        Courses which are less than 36 weeks - funds of NZ$1,250 per month OR a letter from the education provider confirming
         accommodation and other living expenses are included as part of a prepaid package.
    Evidence of funds – please provide one of the following:
        If you are sponsored, a completed Financial Undertaking for a Student form (INZ1014). Please refer to page 1 of the form for
         supporting documents you must submit.
        If you are self-sponsored, bank statements for the last 6 months in your name or a letter from the bank stating the balance
         amount in your account.
        Letter of award of scholarship and what it covers.

8. Evidence of medical insurance (PhD students are excluded) – please complete the declaration (Section C) in the visa
   application form on holding medical insurance while in New Zealand.
9. Health requirement:
   For fee paying students: If your stay is more than 6 months – submit a Chest X-ray Certificate (INZ 1096). You may
    also be required to submit a General Medical Certificate (INZ 1007) depending on your health status (see visa
    application form).
   For PhD students – submit a General Medical Certificate (INZ 1007) & a Chest X-ray Certificate (INZ 1096)
   Do not send us your Chest x-ray film or CD if your x-ray results are normal.
   Children under 11 years of age and pregnant women are not required to have an x-ray.

     The certificate must be less than 3 months old at the time your application is submitted. Please refer to our website
      for an approved list of panel doctors and radiologists who can complete your certificate. For applicants residing in
      Singapore and Maldives, any registered medical practitioner can complete your certificate.

10. Police certificates are required if you are aged 17 years and above intending to stay in New Zealand for 24 months
    or longer:
     From your country of citizenship, and
     Any country in which you have lived for 5 years or more since the age of 17 years.
     Police certificates must be less than 6 months old at the time your application is accepted.

Renewing Your Student Visa
     Please submit documents as specified on page 1 of this checklist except for health requirements and police
      certificates, please see **.
     Evidence of your previous student performance.
     Evidence of satisfactory attendance and progress.
     Confirmation of enrolment from the education provider is acceptable in place of the letter of offer. It needs to state the
      course name, annual fee and whether the student if full-time or part-time.
     **For fee-paying foreign students (including PhD students and their family members), if you have submitted
      police and/or medical certificates in your last application and they are within 36 months of their date of issue, you will
      not need to provide new certificates. If there were medical concerns in your last application, the 36 months validity for
      your last medical certificate may not apply. Please confirm the validity of your previous medical certificates when
      renewing your visa.
     If you have spent 6 consecutive months in one or more of the countries NOT on the List of Low TB incident
      Countries. (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/branch/SingaporeBranchHome/Checklists/) since your previous
      application, you must submit a Chest X-ray Certificate (INZ 1096).

Processing time
   Applications received between:
        o March to September: within 10 working days
        o October to February: 15 to 20 working days
   We recommend you submit your application 5 weeks before your intended departure date.
   Processing time may take longer if we require additional information and/or verification.
   Medical or x-ray certificates that needs to be referred may take up to 6 weeks to process.

Endorsement of your visa
Upon approval of your application, you may come in person with your passport for the visa endorsement or send your passport to this
office and include a courier fee (payment methods see item no 3) for the return of your passport. The courier fee charges as follows:
