Agora Summer Associate Program - 2010
Agora Partnerships is hiring graduate student Summer Associates from select MBA
programs to work in its office in Washington, D.C.
Agora Partnerships identifies and supports, through consulting and investment (social venture
capital) to Central American small business entrepreneurs creating socially responsible
businesses. The Summer Associates program provides a highly selective group of MBA students
a unique opportunity to help build the fields of development finance and social entrepreneurship.

A passion for helping entrepreneurs create social and economic value
Entrepreneurial drive, a sense of humor, and comfort with ambiguity
Demonstrated leadership ability
Excellent cross-cultural communication ability
Experience in venture capital, business consulting, marketing, or social entrepreneurship.
Excellent writing skills
Commitment to the fields of international development, socially responsible investing,
corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship
Spanish language ability is an advantage, but not a requirement for positions in DC.
Duration: 10-12 weeks during the summer, starting the end of May in Washington, D.C.
We are a small organization so assignments are flexible and adapted to the organization’s needs,
as well as the candidate’s strengths. These are the four general categories we hope to have
Summer Associate focused on.
Thought Leadership and Communications Associate: Develop and implement a communications
strategy to describe Agora’s social value proposition to foundations and donors. Help with a
long-term branding and messaging plan. Research and establish profiles of key stakeholders in
Agora’s - growth.
Business Development Associate: Identify potential strategic partners and develop a strategy for
engagement. Develop a plan for interacting with them and lead initial conversations with these
Agora Venture Fund Associate (Boston or DC): Track and evaluate incoming business plans
while conducting technical, competitive and financial due diligence on potential portfolio
