A NEW URBAN ART INITIATIVE FOR SASKATOON
Art Lab program and website launch and free bus tour
(part of exposed: a forum for new public art)
Saturday November 17
Exposed: a forum for new public art will launch Art Lab, the City of Saskatoon's new public art program and website. Art Lab will host free guided bus and walking tours to public art sites during the event. Tours will include new works such as Launch Time and Prairie Wind, and Aneco, a curated exhibition of public art works designed for their specific locations throughout Saskatoon by Saskatchewan and other Canadian artists. Artworks featured on the tour include those at River Landing, Third Avenue Roundabout, Broadway, Riversdale, and more.

PUBLIC FORUM Working With and Within the City
Working With and Within the City will bring together artists, curators and civic administrators with extensive experience in public art commissions to present and to discuss various aspects of new public art. Presentations will focus on conceptual, social and pragmatic practices and processes of public art, site-specificity and sited art. Artists, curators and civic administrators will discuss their experiences within the civic structure and the development of new public art policies and new models for working within the public space. The Roundtable will focus on experiences, successful models, and innovative forms of new public art for civic urban spaces.
