VISA

Non-E.U. students have to apply for a student visa at the French Embassy of their home country
with the BEM Acceptance Letter. Tourist visas are not accepted.

Students do not need to apply for a residence permit any more once in France (new regulation
since June1st, 2009).

However, students holding a VLS-TS visa with the mention “CESEDA R311-3 6°” must register to
the OFII (Office Français de l'Immigration et de l'Intégration) upon their arrival in Bordeaux (see
details in the International Students Guide).

THE FRENCH HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Non-E.U. students under 28 years old, studying at BEM for at least 3 months must register
with the "Sécurité Sociale" student health insurance plan upon arrival in France.

The cost of the registration for the school year 2012-2013 is 200 euros approx. The subscription
is mandatory for all students except for :
 E.U. students covered by the European Health Insurance card
 Quebec students covered by the SE-401-Q-106 form
 Students older than 28 years old or turning 28 on September 30th, covered by a private
individual health insurance
 Students staying at BEM for less than 3 months, covered by a private individual health
insurance

Students may also subscribe to a complementary health insurance if they wish (full medical and
hospital expenses, repatriation, civil responsibility, etc...).

It is strongly recommended to book accommodation before arrival.
