Part II-A, Major Unit Accomplishments and Changes in Programs and Services
This section of the annual report replaces the Notable Accomplishments report that was required in past
years.
List major department/division accomplishments and changes in programs and services for 2005-2006.

1. Second four year BSN class graduated, May 2006; 100% successful on NCLEX
(nursing licensing exam) thus far.
2. Fourth class of four year BSN students admitted, April 2006. Had 3X the number of
applicants that we could not accept due to limited access.
3. RN to BSN enrollment continues to be strong and numbers are up. Graduated 12
from the UWF RN to BSN tract.
4. Graduated first RN to BSN students (15) from the cooperative OWC/UWF program.
5. Replace two full-time faculty, one in community health nursing and one for pediatric
nursing.
6. Secured services of several adjunct faculty who are extremely well clinically qualified.
7. Continuing to revise and update clinical affiliation agreements with necessary clinical
facilities.
8. Formed alliance with PJC concerning clinical affiliations in the local area. We are
working together with nursing administration at clinical agencies to secure valuable
clinical spots for our students. The Master planning process this year was more
equitable and more favorable for both PJC and UWF.
9. Sponsored the Ninth Annual Nursing Assembly in March 2006. There were about 200
in attendance.
10. Keep open communication which is critical with hospitals and nursing administration
concerning the program, students, and faculty.
11. Continue to offer personal advisement for all students applying to either the generic
four year program or the RN to BSN program.
12. Updated moniker of Nursing Advisory Committee to Nursing Leadership Committee
and hosted two meeting during the year.

13. Received $150,000 from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida for program
development, particularly for a MSN program.
14. Hosted second induction ceremony for UWF Honor Society for Nursing in March
2006. Inducted 21 senior nursing students and 18 community nursing leaders.
15. Received four student scholarships from Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald
Coast for Nursing students from Okaloosa or Walton Counties in Florida.
