There’s a vitality at the Metropolitan Campus that you can
feel from the start. It’s created by the interaction of the

An education that opens doors
Hands-on learning drives the academic experience at the
Metropolitan Campus. It can mean presenting a paper before a
professional society; doing a study of food eating preferences
for a class on animal behavior; screening your film at the New
York City finale of a national film competition; or meeting with
investigators to talk about their work on an unsolved crime.

Research and independent study opportunities let you
explore your interests in virtually any area of study with the
guidance of faculty mentors. Recent student research spanned
such diverse topics as The Constitutionality and Ramifications
of Gun Control and Microorganisms and Biofuels.

The University Honors Program, open to accomplished
freshmen and undergraduates, features honors courses and a
senior thesis completed in collaboration with a faculty mentor.
The Honors House enables honors students from throughout

                        Campus Location and Neighborhoods
The Metropolitan Campus is less than 10 miles from New York City in Bergen County, NJ.
Running through the center of campus is the Hackensack River (an estuary), and many of
our buildings offer great views of the rise and fall of the tides.
The towns of Teaneck and Hackensack are located on opposite sides of the Hackensack River. Both have rich and interesting
histories, tracing their roots to America’s early Dutch settlers. George Washington was headquartered in Hackensack in 1772
and Teaneck played a pioneering role in school integration in the 1960s.

Teaneck and Hackensack both offer numerous shops, markets, ethnic groceries, cafés
and restaurants within easy walking distance of campus.
