 Reduce health inequalities and
 raise the life expectancy of the
 most socially disadvantaged by
            18 months
Regional Health Strategy (2)
•   Reduce mortality from cardiovascular disease and cancer by
    reducing smoking and reducing the population’s cholesterol and
    blood pressure levels through the NHS and by enhancing health
    eating and physical activity, especially among the most deprived
    communities
•   Reduce alcohol-related harm by improving the identification of
    and services for people with drinking problems
•   Reduce infant mortality by reducing smoking in pregnancy,
    reducing teenage pregnancies, and reducing the number of cot
    deaths
•   Improve the health of the population by improving coverage of
    screening and immunisations
•   Embed the reduction of health inequalities in the decision-making
    process of all public agencies
