                              JOB DESCRIPTION

LOCATION:            Head Office, Lynwood, Sunninghill, Ascot, Berks, SL5 0AJ

POST:                Head of Marketing

DEPARTMENT:          Marketing

REPORTS TO:          Chief Executive

SUPERVISES:          Marketing Manager
                     Events Manager

LIAISES WITH:        All Trustees, Directors, Matrons, Manager of the BEN Day
                     Centre, Head of Business Development, Financial Controller,
                     Head of Welfare, companies, individuals, trade associations
                     and membership organisations in the automotive and
                     related industries, internal voluntary groups, external
                     volunteer bodies, the media, residents and beneficiaries.

PURPOSE:             Provide effective leadership to the Marketing function, to
                     increase awareness and understanding of BEN and the work
                     of the Charity within the Automotive industry.

                     Responsible for internal and external communications within
                     BEN.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and oversee, the delivery of BEN’s Marketing and Communications
   strategy, with greater emphasis on raising awareness of BEN’s services. Track
   the success of marketing initiatives through awareness research.

2. Determine the appropriate structure for BEN’s Marketing function and propose
   to the Chief Executive the resourcing required to deliver the strategy.

3. Provide leadership, direction and expertise to the Marketing team to meet the
   Department’s targets.

4. As part of BEN’s marketing plan, formalise the concept of key industry sectors
   by defining these sectors and identifying a BEN ‘champion’ to head up each.
   Work closely with these Sector Champions to develop sector specific
   strategies.

5. Oversee the development and implementation of an events programme that
   achieves targeted revenue for BEN and raises awareness of BEN and its
   services.

6. Develop, in conjunction with the Marketing Manager, creative and integrated
   marketing campaigns to target sectors where BEN is under-represented or
   where there is further potential for support, to ensure maximum income can
   be achieved.

7. Monitor progress with the extension of BEN’s reach into under developed
   sectors and initiate action as appropriate.

8. Increase the involvement of external agencies and automotive industry
   marketers with the objective of encouraging them to donate their expertise
   and services.

9. Oversee the development and implementation of a BEN Marketing Procedure
   Guide throughout the organisation to ensure that all marketing, media,
   communications and advertising enquiries and contacts are handled in a
   consistent fashion.
10. Work with the Finance Department in the development of the marketing
   budget/profiling and to manage this once approved, by monitoring and
   evaluating expenditure on a regular basis.

11. With ultimate responsibility for all external media and PR related activity,
   establish a media and public relations protocol and procedure to be
   implemented in the event of a crisis and, working with the team, disseminate
   this through BEN to ensure that it is adhered to by all staff.

12. Ensure the ongoing development and maintenance of the BEN web site and
   exploitation of all new media opportunities.

13. Oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of the BEN’s relationship
   and contact management database (currently Raiser’s Edge) in conjunction
   with the team. Provide appropriate support as required during the ‘Database
   Replacement’ project.

14. Support the Marketing Manager to promote the BEN brand ensuring it is used
   in line with the Brand Guidelines both internally and externally.

15. Oversee, in conjunction with the Marketing Manager, the development of
   BENtrade activities that relate to ecommerce through the BEN website and
   maximise the potential.

16. Work closely with the Chief Executive and Head of Business Development in
   the promotion of special projects including the promotion of BENgold, BENergy
   and BEN Her schemes.

17. Work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure the production of high
   quality, professional and ‘fit for purpose’ marketing materials.

18. Represent BEN as required at functions, conferences, presentations and
   meetings within the industries BEN serves as well as at trade association
   functions, care conferences, third sector functions and forums and meetings
   with statutory bodies.

19. Ensure health, safety and environmental risks are adequately assessed and
   managed in respect of personal and marketing activities.

20. Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Chief
   Executive to ensure the smooth operation of the Marketing Department and
   the promotion of BEN.

This document will be regularly reviewed and amended as necessary
after consultation.
