Hospitality & Tourism Management
Description
The Hospitality and Tourism Management major prepares students for an exciting, challenging and satisfying career in one of
the largest, most important industries in the new global economy. The hospitality and tourism industry is one of the oldest
industries in the world—serving people traveling away from home for any variety of reasons. The Hospitality and Tourism
Management program will prepare you to handle multiple facets of hotel and food operations, management of human
resources, accounting, planning and marketing tourism destinations, services, meetings and events.
The degree requirements balance core program classes with over 600 hours of industry work experience and internships
along with industry projects. Professional work experience is a critical aspect of educating students who are preparing for
careers in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Potential employers are seeking individuals with a well-rounded
experiential and educational background. The program has two concentrations to choose from:
Hotel and Restaurant Management
Travel and Tourism Management
All students complete a business minor. A minor in Hospitality and Tourism is also available for students wishing to combine
this with their current major. For more information, contact the Department of Management and the Department of
Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality and Tourism (MEHT) at 336-334-3797, 441 Bryan Building, or go to
