AUTISM SOCIETY PHILIPPINES Bacoor Chapter Mobile Nos. 0915-985-7828/0920-824-7636 E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org May 20, 2009 GRACEANS BATCH ‘79 Our Lady of Grace Academy Grace Park, Caloocan City Dear Batch ’79 Sisters: Greetings of jubilation as Autism Society Philippines – Bacoor Chapter celebrates its 3rd Year Anniversary! We are proud to tell you that this young chapter has not failed to deliver the services it has envisioned for its clients and for the public that it seeks to involve in its advocacy for children with autism (CWA’s). Now at three years old, we have expanded our membership beyond the boundaries of Bacoor and had spearheaded the creation of new chapters in Dasmarinas, Tanza, Trece Martires and Molino, Bacoor. We have joined hands with close to 300 parents and professionals all over Cavite, and established partnership and linkages with a host of private and public schools as well as local government units to strengthen the chapter’s foundation and to pursue a more rigorous campaign to promote the rights and well-being of children with autism. For our 3rd Anniversary Program, the Chapter has lined up a host of events that aim to further educate and empower parents, siblings, caregivers, and professionals to address the special needs of CWA’s more effectively; provide opportunities for CWA’s to exercise their skills and talents to mainstream levels; and, intensify autism awareness in the communities, as we have seen the positive impact of such campaigns over the past three years. Hence, we shall be launching empowerment seminars for parents, caregivers and professionals caring for CWA’s; a siblings support group workshop; painting/exhibit and mountaineering workshops for CWA’s; and a First Holy Communion for Catholic CWA’s. We have always wished that we could give the best opportunities to our members and to the public for free. We, however, do not have the financial capability to run such programs on a sustained basis, save through the help of supporters and benefactors who see the value of helping a cause-oriented group such as the ASP. We, therefore, seek your support in subsidizing our programs, to ease the parents’ financial burdens as they take advantage of these opportunities, to provide decent honorarium for our resource persons and partners, and to secure the logistics and equipment necessary in our continued operations and outreach (such as an office and an LCD projector.) We are happy to have gone this far through our service and sacrifice. We pray that we can go much farther in improving the lives of persons with autism, together with partners like you. In one spirit, let us not tire in doing good works for persons with disabilities, for the rewards will certainly be much, much more than enough! Thank you so much and may God bless you more! Yours truly in service, (signed) Mary Janette I. Pena President Autism Society Philippines Bacoor Chapter
