Credits are awarded for successes in the various programmes and 100 credits will give a pass while 180 credits will give a level 3 pass. qualification will identify the areas of expertise and as be arranged to suit the company or individual needs and extended as further needs of the company or individual are recognised. A person with four unit passes in ECDL requires a mandatory unit pass, showing the expertise in the use of a for various functions and a unit pass in Website design Networking would give a level 2 award. The choice would on the needs of the individual/company. A person with the B/TEC award in Fault Diagnosis and Upgrading, would require a pass in the mandatory unit, and unit in Networking and/or Website design and/or AutoCAD to for the level 3 award. further information please contact the Short Course Office 903904 BTEC/EDEXCEL Awards One of the outstanding elements of some of our courses is the possibility to attend a number of related short courses and gain a National BTEC Short Course Award or Certificate at B/TEC Level 3 which is described as the advanced level. This is a national qualification awarded on the successful completion of a programme of short courses which, when put together, make a coherent course of study. These qualifications span the whole spectrum from Introductory Award to Advanced Professional Certificate, with the option of taking further studies right up to Advanced Professional Diploma level. These new qualifications will not only be based on the competence of the individual but also on the time spent on completing the course of study. Depending on the qualification, you can expect to spend between 30 and 120 hours to qualify. An Award, for instance, requires at least 30 hours and a Certificate a minimum of 120 hours -including taught and learning time. The Diploma qualification requires a minimum of 240 hours. Students’ following such combination courses will be able to pay a reduced fee rather than paying the individual course costs. If you choose to combine several courses together in this way, you’ll be able to book them all at once and you’ll get priority over other applicants. The level of qualification that a student can attain within the Award, Certificate or Diploma course framework is as follows: Level 1 Foundation Level 2 Intermediate Level 3 Advanced Level 4 Professional Level 5 Advanced Professional BTEC ADVANCED AWARD IN COMPUTER SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION AND COMMUNICATIONS Operating Systems occupy important roles in the server market and desktop markets, and consequently, most users exposed to Operating Systems at some point become System Administrators. This course (in 3 units) allows participants to learn the basic principles and techniques for managing networked Operating Systems, with emphasis on the major two operating systems in the market place. This course uses a mixture of discussions, demonstrations and practical sessions and will enable you to install a basic operating system, setting up the PC’s hardware drivers, and putting on various patches to prevent it from attack from hacking and virus-borne problems. The course aims to provide the bases of Systems Administration and allow the student to move onto more advanced topics such as Advanced Networking in Small Business or Web Servers for Small business SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION: INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER STRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS Whether you use computers casually in the home, or use them to run a small business the moment you turn them on you are an administrator, you have the power to install software, add users, block users or upgrade hardware. This unit will give you a practical introduction to the hardware structures of a modern computer system; how computer systems are constructed and how they work. This unit also covers an introduction to the two major operating system vendors and will give you the skills to specify the hardware requirements for software to enable you to design and manage a computer system.
