Government pressed for answers over
£238m Atos gravy train
LABOUR MP Tom Greatrex wants to know the cost to the public purse after Atos outsourced
part of their work back to the public sector in North Lanarkshire.

GOVERNMENT ministers were last night under increasing pressure to explain their
shambolic £238million pound deal with scandal hit Atos.
The French firm are being paid to carry out assessments for the new personal
independence payment.
But it emerged this week that part of the Department of Work and Pensions
contract has been sub-contracted back into the public sector.
NHS Lanarkshire’s not-for-profit Salus arm will carryout assessments in Scotland
after the Record highlighted Atos’ “humiliating” methods.
Labour MP Tom Greatrex, who has campaigned against Atos, said: “Why did Atos
decide to use NHS Lanarkshire for this contract?
“What cost is there to the public purse of government outsourcing to a private
company, only for that company to outsource the programme back to the public
sector?
“It is time for the Government to provide clarity on what is already a chaotic and
out of control system.”
We emailed Atos for comment but they failed to respond.
