Preschool education is structured towards meeting the physical, social,
emotional and intellectual needs of the individual child.
It provides opportunities for the child to mix with children and adults outside
the family environment.
It helps the child develop independence and at the same time teach the child
to work as part of a group and recognize the rights of others.
Preschool education provides a stimulating environment and a wide range of
activities and experiences, planned in accordance with the needs of the group
and the individual.
Moresby Park Preschool is committed towards providing:
A safe and secure environment where children are happy and are
stimulated to learn.
A preschool where all individuals are respected, irrespective of culture,
religion, sex or ability.
An environment where parents, children and their extended families feel
valued and all communications are treated with confidentiality and honesty.
FUNDING AND MANAGEMENT OF COMMUNITY BASED PRESCHOOLS IN NSW:
Moresby Park Preschool is a non-profit organization that is funded by Community
Services, Department of Human Services NSW.
The NSW Government funds every child attending a community based preschool.
Extra funding is also given to:
Children from families who have a Health Care Card/Pension Card.
Children with Additional needs.
Children from Non-English speaking backgrounds.
Children from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
The funding that is received from the Government does not fully cover the running
expenses of the preschool. This results in the preschool charging fees and
organizing fundraising activities to supplement fees.

In February each year, the Preschool holds an annual general meeting. At this
meeting a committee of 14 people is elected by the members of the Preschool.
An executive, consisting of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and
Treasurer then leads the Management committee through the following 12
months to manage the Preschool.
The Management committee, along with the staff is responsible for the efficient
management and general running of the Preschool.
After setting a budget, the Management committee uses Government subsidies,
children's fees and fundraising to pay all the bills associated with the running
of a Preschool. This includes wages, gas, electricity, phone, cleaning, etc.
Managing our service is a voluntary unpaid job, which is vital for the
existence of the Preschool. Many extra unpaid hours are also spent by the
staff attending meetings, training and information days to make the Preschool
a better place for your child.
Community Connections Solutions Australia also supports Preschools with
information and guidance when necessary.
Please consider being involved with the Management Committee and remember
to support those parents who are involved because the Preschool cannot
function without them.
Parents play an important and valued role in the education of their children and
are welcome to attend the Preschool at any time. Parents can help by:
Discussions with staff for input into the children’s program.
Attending monthly Management committee meetings.
Attending the Preschool's roster days.
Checking your child's note pocket and taking and reading all information left

Supporting the Preschool activities and events.
Being supportive of the staff in their endeavour to make your child's time at
Preschool a happy and educational experience.
Sharing hobbies, interests and talents.
Helping with various jobs (minor repairs, fundraising etc.).
If your child is under any form of medication, it is essential to fill out the
authorization in the medication book prior to leaving your child. Preschool staff
needs to be notified of the need to administer medication.
Do not leave any medication in your child's bag.
