Step Test Procedure
Battery Meter (60 minutes)
*Run all steps as a standard user, and skip second battery steps
when not applicable*
With the AC connected to the unit:
Insert a fully charged battery (100% charge)in Primary battery slot
1
and a 50% charged battery in Secondary battery slot.
Press Fn+F3 to bring up the Battery Meter Window.
On the Battery Meter window verify:
2 The charging value, and status for the primary battery
The charging value, and status for the secondary battery
Open Mobility Center, and verify the battery status matches with

what QuickSet reports.
While the QuickSet battery meter is still open, remove the primary

battery.
After ~2 mins, while the battery meter is still open connect the
primary battery (with 100% charge) to the SUT.
Close the QuickSet battery meter window and remove the secondary
5 battery from the SUT.
6 Press Fn+F3 to bring up the QuickSet battery meter window.
While the QuickSet battery meter window is still open, reconnect the

secondary battery to the SUT.
Wait three minutes and then disconnect the AC adapter.

Press Fn+F3 to bring up the Battery meter.
Check the status of the primary and secondary batteries.
Open Mobility Center, and check that the battery status matches
with what QuickSet reports.

Close all windows
Reconnect the AC power to the unit.
Insert a 20% charged battery into the Dock

10 With AC power connected to a dock (Not APR); Hot Dock SUT.
Press Fn+F3 to bring up the Battery meter
Verify the status for both batteries, and verify that the Dock battery

Step Test Procedure
Primary battery only - Normal State (20 minutes)
Execute this section for Single Battery systems .
This section can also be executed for Dual Battery systems with
the Primary battery slot only populated. Even if there is a media bay
slot, that can be populated with a battery, leave it empty.
Configure the system with a 50% charged primary battery that is in
Normal state (Health % > 65%). Attach AC adapter. Cold boot the
system.
Press F2 to enter setup. Observe the message under the Battery
Health tab. Exit CMOS Setup and boot to the OS.
Verify whether a QuickSet warning message is displayed in the OS.
Press Fn + F3 and observe the battery page that is displayed.
