Job Overview:

Indigenous disadvantage, and works across a range of jurisdictions to improve policy, programs, services
and outcomes for Indigenous Australians.

The Position:

DEEWR is looking for a highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic person to provide high level
administrative support to the Queensland State Manager. You will work with limited supervision, build and
maintain professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will also possess high
level communication skills and IT skills, demonstrate sound judgement and the ability to exercise tact and

Tasks and Activities

       Coordinating and managing appointments, correspondence and communications to and from the
        State Manager, including handling of security classified documents;
       Arranging meetings and travel;
       Communicating with a wide variety of internal and external clients, and co-ordinating timely
        responses to a variety of matters;
       Undertaking research, preparing reports and correspondence; and
       Provide high level keyboard support using a range of computer software packages, eg Microsoft
        Word, Outlook and Excel.

Security Assessment:

This is a security assessed position. The successful applicant will be required to undergo and successfully
obtain a security clearance to the Secret level.

Selection Criteria (Limit of 450 words per criterion)

    1. Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary issues facing Indigenous Australians and the
       impacts these issues have on Indigenous Australian societies and cultures
    2. Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous Australians
    3. Demonstrated experience in providing high level support to a senior executive including co-
       ordination of electronic and hard copy correspondence, diary management, travel arrangements
       and other ad hoc administrative tasks.
    4. Well developed organisational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities and
       produce quality work within tight timeframes.
    5. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including strong interpersonal skills and the
       ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
    6. Proven ability to work with limited supervision, demonstrating drive, flexibility, initiative, sound
       judgement and discretion.
    7. Good keyboard skills and experience using a range of relevant computer software packages to input,
       extract and present information in various forms, e.g. Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
