Join a team that includes a dedicated Board of Directors, professional staff, community members, and
trained volunteers to make a difference in the lives of children and youth who have been abused and
neglected and are under the protection of the dependency court. Court Appointed Special
Volunteers (CASA) recruits, trains and supervises caring adult volunteers to be Volunteers and consistent
adult mentors for children in the child welfare system. CASA’s vision is that each child served grows into
a healthy, contributing adult in our world.
The Volunteer Coordinator works as part of a team to assist in outreach, recruitment, training, supporting
and recognizing its 150 to 200 program and on-site volunteers.
The major areas of responsibility are:
1. Program Volunteer Support:
In conjunction with Program Team, act as a primary contact to Volunteers before, during
and after their training
Identify program support needs and supervise volunteers to support and increase the
capacity of the Program Team Volunteer Supervisors.
Interview, screen, and prepare prospective Volunteers for training
Coordinate paperwork and screening of current Volunteers and maintain Volunteer files
Process court documents
Participate in Volunteer and child matching process
Assist Volunteers in accessing resources for their youth
Assist trainer with drafting, editing, compiling and distributing training materials
Ensure Volunteer information is tracked in CASA databases and tracking systems
Assist with program data analysis
Coordinate CASA-wide volunteer communication (e.g. Weekly Update)
2. House Volunteer Coordination:
Recruit, train and supervise House Volunteers to assist with staff support and house
3. Volunteer Recruitment and Retention:
Respond to initial volunteer inquiries
Assist Outreach Coordinator in conducting CASA Orientations.
Post/distribute volunteer opportunities electronically and on community boards
Match volunteers to an appropriate CASA volunteer opportunity
Project Manage CASA’s annual Volunteer Recognition Party and other volunteer events
as requested by the ED
Coordinate ongoing volunteer recognition
Assist with other duties as requested

Qualifications and Requirements:
Experience in working with volunteers and/or coordinating programs required
Prior experience in children’s services or with nonprofits a plus.
Outgoing, friendly personality with excellent diplomacy, speaking and presentation skills
Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for details and the ability to move multiple projects
Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire trust and confidence
Excellent written and composition skills
Competent in Word, Excel, Power Point and tracking databases
An ability to work with highly confidential information
Respectful of all people regardless of socioeconomic background, culture, religion, sexual
orientation, disability or gender
A.A. or B.A. or equivalent experience.
Bilingual (Spanish) not required, but a plus
Demonstrated Ability to:
Complete the CASA Advocate Training program, including all background checks
Articulate and passionately communicate CASA’s mission, programs and accomplishments
Participate in staff meetings, offering collegial, problem solving communication with co-workers
Work independently under the direction of their supervisor and make decisions based on
Adapt to a changing environment with the ability to respond to and manage with a calm,
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: $12/hour; 40 hours per week- Monday through Friday(some evening and week-ends)
100% paid medical/dental benefits for employee.
160 annual PTO hours (20 days) plus 11 paid holidays and three paid personal holidays
403b plan available for employee contribution
