around and you will notice animation used medicine, law, engineering, retail, the
military, museums, and of course, in the world of entertainment! From the very
first day, when each student will create an animation, to the last class when students present their creations in
the “Performance Showcase,” students grow as they learn skills that could jump-start their futures!

Video Game Creation & Flash Animation
Mazes, Choose Your Own Adventure, and First-Person Shooter games are just a
few of the game styles you may create. This course may be repeated with each
level increasing in skill complexity and having different project requirements.

Building Websites with Flash Animation

Create your own interactive website using the same industry-standard software used by professional web designers,
graphic designers and animators. You will get an introduction to HTML as you manually code your site, use the
powerful authoring tool Dreamweaver, design and create your own graphics with Photoshop, and add animation to your
site with Flash. Whew! Finally, you will upload your project to the Internet – just like the pros!

 Game Modding
It’s here! Game Modding! Some video game companies are actively encouraging a form of hacking called
"modding" (for modifying), in which gamers change parts or all of a game by altering its code. So, go ahead
and “hack” into a popular game and change it to your liking! You can change popular games like “Never
Winter Nights, or another appropriately-rated game - and make it your own! You will learn coding as you
change the levels, environments, and other components as you better learn to make your own videogames.

 3-D Creations & Animation

You won’t believe what you have done when you create your own character and see it
move! Doing it just as it is done in professional gaming houses, you will bring your
idea to life as you use the professional software 3DS Max, and polish your project
with Photoshop and a game engine.

 Xbox360® Game Creation

This class offers students the exciting fun making video games for the Xbox ® -
at each student’s own level. Student can unleash their imaginations as Xbox 360® players become game
creators! Using the Xbox LIVE® Community Games Channel, students learn easy-to-use game creation
techniques and programming skills that make building personal playgrounds simple. Imagine learning
programming skills that could jump-start a future – all while having fun!
                            Creating Apps for Smart Phones

Yes You Can! Create your own app for a smart phone or other mobile device! While
the iPhone is today’s big rage, we’re preparing you to develop apps for the smart
phones and other mobile devices of the future! You will learn how to create your
own app usable on almost any smart phone. You will also learn how to take that app
on to the Internet to share with the world!

                                                         2
Manga & Flash Anime

Finally it’s here! Learn the Japanese style of comics drawing featuring characters with large eyes, big hair and
elongated limbs, exaggerated facial expressions, and other distinctive features. Then bring them to life with
animation! You will use the industry- standard Flash to create your very own Anime!

Technology Courses for Grades 3 - 5
LEGO Robotics

Students apply science and learning concepts to design and engineering to create robots using Lego NTX
System. This exciting class is perfect for elementary and middle school youth stimulating their interest and
deeper understanding of science and technology. Projects include programming, ultra sound, light, touch and
other robotic sensors. Students prepare their robots for upcoming events and competitions.

Remote Control Car Building, Programming, and Racing

This course will introduce students to the exciting hobby and sport known as On-road Radio Controlled Car
racing. Participants will learn how to prepare these race cars and drive them on a closed circuit race course.
Students will practice each of the major turn configurations (hairpin, 30/45/90 degree, chicane, switchback,
sweeper, decreasing radius). As students master each turn configuration it will be integrated into the race course
layout. Aerodynamics, suspension, drive train, battery technology and related technical topics covered during
the lecture, and reinforced during track time. Professional grade 1/14 scale electric radio controlled cars are
used for this course. Girls and Boys campers will be engaged in building and racing radio control cars while
learning automotive engineering and technology. This session will cover telecommunication technologies like
AM, FM radios and 2.4 GHz digital communication.

It’s A Green World Now!

Students will have fun creating solar-powered cars, cell phone battery chargers, and alternative fuels as they
experiment with green technology. Working in small teams, they will discover how using our natural resources
can help make a better, more cost, effective world for everyone.

Architectural Engineering

Focusing on real world applications, students will build one of nine different realistic model with the K’NEX
Engineering Marvels Building Set, including the Eiffel Tower, Seattle Space Needle, Flying Buttress System,
Windmill, Crane, Big Ben, Arc de Triomphe, the CN Tower and the first iron bridge. Students will work in
teams of three to four as they learn the engineering process.

Structural Engineering

Students will design, blueprint, and build their own bridges using toothpicks or popsicle sticks. After looking at
different styles of bridges, including the beam bridge, arch bridge, and suspension bridge, the class will end
with a contest that includes testing the strength of the bridge. They will get a thrill out of seeing their bridge
come to life and amaze themselves with the knowledge of pre-engineering.
