 “Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)”
 Thursday, October 11 & Friday, October 12, 2012 12 CEU Clock Hours
 What children see and hear impacts every aspect of their being. Threatening experences negatively influence how children
 see themselves, others, and the world around them.Understanding trauma is the key to the effective treatment with children.
 This session will provide an overview of the problem of child traumatic stress, the research behind the TF-CBT model, and
 how to implement the TF-CBT treatment model. Case studies will be presented with examples of interventions
 Presenter: Cassie Hornbeck-Maxwell, Psy.D.
 Cassie has a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, an APA approved program from Wheaton College in Illinois. She
 provides outpatient and family psychotherapy for children, adolescents and their families at Community Services of Stark
 County and facilitates weekly therapy sessions at Gentle Shepherd Counseling Center.
 “Incredible Years Group Leader BABY Program”
 Wednesday, October 17 & Thursday, October 18, 2012 12 CEU Clock Hours
 This 2-day training is designed for group leaders, regardless of whether they have completed the BASIC parent training
 program for young children. The program focuses on teaching parents how to provide nuturing parenting. Evidence-based,
 SAMHSA-recognized, best practice parent, teacher and child trainings that can be delivered at prevention or treatment
 levels. Participants who complete the full two days will receive certificates and be authorized to deliver the IY Parent Baby
 Program in their communities.
 Presenter: Susan Lowery-Connell, PhD
 Susan is a Clinical Psychologist and Director of Childhood Resilency Project for Community Service of Stark County.
 She has experience working with childern and families in hospital and private practice in the academic settings. Susan has
 led a number of Incredible Years Parent Groups, trains and offers a monthly Consultation Group for parent group leaders.
 She was selected in 2005 to begin training to serve as Incredible Years Mentor for the entire state of Ohio.
 “Introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy”
 Wednesday, November 7, 2012 6 CEU Clock Hours
 This session provides an introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a comprehensive integrated cognitive-
 behavioral approach to treating individuals with borderline personatily disorder. DBT, developed by Marsha M.
 Linehan, PhD has been shown to be effective in reducing suicidal behavior, psychiatric hospitalization, dropping
 out from treatment, substance abuse, anger, and interpersonal difficulites. This training is part of a series. Part
 II focuses on Individual DBT Therapy (2 days); Part III (2 days) on DBT Skills will be offered early in 2013.

 Presenter: Juliann Wolfarth, PCC-S, LCDCIII
 Julie has 30 years of professional experience in behavior health. She has been using DBT in her practice since 1994. Her
 background includes clinical work for nonprofit behavioral healthcare organizations, program development, consultations
 and training. She is also a Registered Drama Therapist, a level II trained EMDR clinician and a licensed chemical
 dependency counselor.

 Three presenters! We’re pleased to bring back Community Services’ Program Managers to cover the practical
 skills essential to effective clinical supervision providing attendees with a structured model for supervision.
 Topics include contracts, stages of supervisor/supervisee development, effective clinical documentation, and
 Presenters: Michelle Chaido, LISW-S, Tara Davis, LPCC-S and Michele Heberling, PhD, PCC-S
 Michelle Chaido manages the Adult CPST, Supported Employment, Adoption Services and the SSI programs. She has
 extensive clinical & supervisory experience in both medical/hospital setting as well as as in community health. Tara Davis
 has over over 16 years in mental health, specifically as a Licensed Counselor for all ages over 6 and is trained in critical
 incident debriefing. Michele Heberling is the Clinical Manager for Counseling and specializes in working with adult
 survivors of trauma. She received her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2006.
