Reconnect With Your Space
A ‘Mobile Art Gallery’ event hosted by Stix & Stones Realty Group Minneapolis, MN—October, 2007—Design for the Arts presents Reconnect With Your Space, an art exhibit that gathers artists, designers and entrepreneurs together to inspire and celebrate our sense of place. Hosted by Stix & Stones Realty Group in Uptown Minneapolis, this wine and cheese event features TOMOCO custom furniture designer Thomas Oliphant, paper and tin mosaics by visual artist Michael Sweere, visual art by Matthew Plumstead, fused art glass and stained glass by Jacob Honer and a conversation with interior designer and Feng Shui practitioner Susan Shehata on how to enliven space. The event also marks the launch of a public-spirited new initiative, “Give to a Good Cause.” Stix & Stones Realty Group will donate $250 from their own commission to an organization of their client‟s choice.
Reconnect With Your Space is the first in a series of „mobile art gallery‟ exhibits that will take place at various venues in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The events are designed to help build connections between local artists, business owners and the community. Karen is a graphic and Web designer and art director living in St. Paul, MN. She is director and founder of the monthly published, online arts & literature magazine Mental Contagion, launched in 2000. She was a panel member of Fostering New Culture on the Internet in SXSW's 2005 Interactive Festival and is the founder and curator of the ‘Mobile Art Gallery’ Reconnect series. Karen's Web design has been featured in the printed design anthology Portfolios Online. She has been on the board of directors for the Twin Cities Fine Arts Organization, is a former art director of First Avenue’s in-house magazine and has been a columnist and photographer for PitchforkMedia.com.
