I am very excited to be applying for the position of Backup PBS/ISE for your store. As a passionate and successful In Store Educator (ISE), I know that I have a tremendous amount of experience and talent to offer your store. My experience as an ISE has also given me training that will translate well to the Backup PBS position. Through a careful combination of efficiency, organization, and passion – I was able to move my store’s training program beyond basic compliance and towards new training endeavors. A few of my training related accomplishments:  New Hire Orientation & WFMU o Maintained accurate records and completed New Hire Orientation for all TMs hired in 2006. In progress with TMs hired in 2007. Utilized WFMU training videos as part of the New Hire Orientation and achieved the 3rd highest usage rank for the North Atlantic. Harassment Training o I compiled, developed materials, and conducted trainings for TMs in compliance with the mandatory Harassment Awareness/Prevention Training. This training was conducted for all TMs at my location o To eliminate scheduling difficulties with Regional, I would request certification from Regional to conduct the In-store Harassment Trainings. Store Wide Trainings o Good Organics  Conducted Good Organic refreshers with all Teams. Collected questions from TMs and forwarded them to our National Organic Contact, Joe Dickson. Posted answers to the ISE Training Board. o Customer Service  Partnered with the Customer Service TL to deliver an indepth Customer Service training for all TMs within our store. Focused on building energy and enthusiasm amongst TMs. o Sanitation  Met individually with each Team and utilized Steritech & TCS reports to focus on strengths and areas of opportunity. Helped TMs understand the differences between Steritech and TCs. Initiated a store-wide Steritech contest to encourage improvement of criticals (store criticals dropped from 13 to 4 during the contest, and our store was one the most improved stores in the region). Store Newsletter o I write a bi-weekly ISE newsletter for the store and attach the newsletter to paychecks each pay week. The newsletter is a great way to keep TMs informed. ISE Training Board

o Partnered with our Graphic Artist/Sign Maker to create Training. Used the Training Board to further communicate with Team Members regarding trainings. Regional Leadership Certificate Series o Coordinated Regional Leadership Certificate Series at my location. This year our Region piloted a new program with the Regional trainings offered at both the Regional Office and two local store locations. My store was one of the two local locations, and as the ISE I was responsible for coordinating the scheduling of trainings, facilitators, meals, etc.

In addition to these relevant experiences, I will make many valuable contributions. My current ISE role is designated as only 20 hours a week, and as mentioned above, I have managed to do a great deal with just 20 hours. I feel that efficiency, organization, and passion are extremely relevant for a dual position like Back-up PBS/ISE, and I know that I have these in abundance. I am also extremely familiar with all areas of store operations. I have worked in virtually every department, and I have a great deal of experience with front of the house and back of the house operations. Currently, as an Admin support TM, I cover Receiving and Cash-up, and I also handle some of our location’s basic accounting. My broad and through understanding of storeoperations increases my effectiveness as both a Back-up PBS and an ISE. I have been extensively trained in company Policy and Procedure, and I’m well equipped to share that information with TM members (e.g. Attendance, Dress Code, Benefits, Warnings, etc.). I have attended a wide number of Advanced Leadership Trainings on topics like Harassment, Hiring/Interview Process, and Documentation and Discipline, and I can utilize this information as a Backup PBS. Furthermore, after a year of interacting with TLs, I have learned how to effectively communicate with the Store Leadership group. Most importantly, I am committed to and passionate about TM happiness and excellence (Core Value 3). At my current location, I have learned not just the names of our TMs, but also various facts about each person. I work to make my interactions both personal and meaningful, because I believe TMs retain more with a personal touch. I want all of my endeavors to enrich our TMs such that as they improve individually, their improvement betters Whole Foods Market. Thank you for your consideration!

Sincerely,

Daniel Kauwe
