Buckeye Express High-Speed Internet Consumption Plan
           Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Internet Consumption?
Internet consumption is the amount of data traffic sent and received (measured in Gigabytes for
both upstream and downstream data) during all Internet sessions. Any Internet-enabled device that
is connected to your cable modem and/or router that actively initiates a Web session will data send
and receive data traffic. Computers, hand held devices (web phones, PDA, etc.), video games,
movie/music downloads, streaming music/video etc. are devices and applications that send and
receive data traffic. Viruses and open wireless networks can often be culprits of excessive
consumption.

Why did Buckeye CableSystem implement this Internet Consumption Plan?
Buckeye CableSystem has experienced a dramatic increase in the amount of data that is sent and
received over our network. This is a result of an increasing demand by a very small segment of our
customers who are skewing consumption patterns over our network. A very small percentage of our
Buckeye Express customers use about 30% of the total capacity of our network. Simply put, those
customers that consume more Internet than others should pay more. In recent months, our heaviest
users consumed more than 8000% more than our average users. Based on recent Internet usage,
our Internet Consumption Plan will affect only about 1.5% of our customers.

What is my Buckeye Express Internet Consumption Plan?
Buckeye Express High-Speed Internet customers will have the following Internet
Consumption Plans:

What is a GB (gigabyte)?
For the purpose of our Buckeye Express Internet Consumption Plan, a gigabyte is one billion
(1,000,000,000) bytes. A gigabyte (GB) is a unit of measurement. As it relates to Internet
consumption, a gigabyte is the quantified amount of data that is either sent or received while using
the Internet. Approximately 50,000 1-page emails without attachments = 1 GB.

What can I do with my Internet Consumption plan?
A lot! Our Internet Consumption plan is one of the most robust plans in the industry! Only a small
percentage of our customers will be affected. This table represents sample and estimated Internet
activities based on your Internet Consumption Plan (Note: activities are not aggregate activities for
the month)
                                                                   -2–

When will the Internet Consumption Plan take place?
Buckeye CableSystem will start implementing this monthly Internet Consumption Plan on June 1,
2012. This means any Internet consumption which exceeds your plan during the month of June will
be billed on your July 2012 billing statement (see below).

What happens if I exceed my monthly Internet Consumption Plan?
You will incur a $10 charge for each additional 50 GB of Internet consumption incurred during your
billing cycle. Multiple $10 charges will be assessed if more than one additional 50 GB is consumed.
The maximum charges you will incur in any one billing cycle for Internet usage above your Internet
Consumption Plan is $100 for an additional 500 GB.

Will using my Buckeye Phone service impact my Internet Consumption Plan?
No. Calls made and received using your Buckeye Phone will not impact your Internet Consumption
Plan. However, other telephone providers (e.g. Skype, Vonage) will appear as any other data traffic
and will be assessed against your Internet Consumption Plan.

What notifications will I receive when I have exceeded my Internet
Consumption Plan?
Web notifications will be sent during web browser sessions, informing our customers when they
approach their monthly maximum allowance under their Internet Consumption Plan. These
messages will be sent at 75%, 85%, 95% and 100%+, will display every 10 seconds for 5 minutes,
and repeat every hour until the customer clicks the "acknowledge" button. A sample of the web
notification is below:

What if I suspect that I have not moved as much traffic that is being reported?
There may be several reasons as to why your consumption is above your “normal” on-line
activity, such as:

     1. If you have an open wireless router; neighbors may be moving traffic over your Buckeye
Express connection. This will result in unauthorized usage which will impact your Internet
        Consumption Plan.
     2. Your SSID may be exposed. Old and shared router passwords may need to be changed.
Again, unwanted neighbors may be moving traffic over your Buckeye Express connection
and they could be viewing data files on your computer.
     3. Virus, Malware and/or Trojans may be infecting your computer(s) which may be consuming
bandwidth. Please make sure your anti-virus software is current.
     4. Check with all people and identify the devices that are in your home that are connecting to
your wireless router. Remember, gaming consoles, computers, many hand held devices
(tablets, I-Pods), etc., all may be set up to use and consume Internet in your home. The
number of these devices can add up.
