Following a successful launch of British Showjumping’s Cornwall Junior Academy at the
Cornish Showjumping Club, newly signed up members came together at a training and
demonstration evening held at Colraine Equestrian Centre, near Truro.

Twenty young riders received instruction with accredited coach Claire Rushworth and also
tapped into the knowledge of show jumping farrier Andrew James who gave a practical
demonstration on choosing and fitting studs for competition.

“I was particularly pleased to see so many parents joining in,” said Andrew.

“They were keen to learn about studs as many of them take this job on at the shows. My shoe
supplier Louise Tribe kindly organised sponsorship from Stromsholm and the kids all went
home with studs, t-shirts and caps and an explanatory Stromsholm stud guide which I’m sure
they will find invaluable.

“I also set them a quiz to see if my advice had sunk in and was really pleased with the

Val Mason who helped co-ordinate the evening said: “We were pleased and encouraged by
the enthusiasm and good number who came along. We’ve received excellent feed back and
have organised another training session for June 27.”
