Golden Mean
   The golden mean a ratio obtained from
    taking two numbers of the fibonacci
    sequence and dividing them by each
    other to get phi.

   Phi: 1.618

   1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89…

A simpler version of the golden
mean is the rule of thirds
   What is the rule of
    thirds?

Chaz Maviyane-
Davies
   A graphic designer known
    for his messages of social
    justice.
   Born in Zimbabwe,
    Mayiyane-Davies was
    expose to a society where
    he was a second-class
    citizen under a separatist
    (white) government.

   Chaz Maviyane-Davies left his country and ended up
    in London, where he was influenced by socialist
    images flooding in from the Eastern Bloc.
        This helped Chaz see graphic design as a way to
         promote change.
   In 1982 Chaz founded his own graphic design
    company, The Maviyane-Project

   He was force to cease business in 2001 when the
    government starting cracking down on civic dissent
Chaz Maviyane-Davies
   Chaz is now a professor
    at the Massachusetts
    College of Art
   In 2009 Maviyane-
    Daves was awarded the
    honorary Doctor of
    Humane Letters degree.
   Chaz continues to use
    the local iconography to
    promote ideas of social
    change.
