Born in Zimbabwe, Mayiyane-Davies was expose to a society where he was a second-class citizen under a separatist (white) government. Continued… Chaz Maviyane-Davies left his country and ended up in London, where he was influenced by socialist images flooding in from the Eastern Bloc. This helped Chaz see graphic design as a way to promote change. In 1982 Chaz founded his own graphic design company, The Maviyane-Project He was force to cease business in 2001 when the government starting cracking down on civic dissent Chaz Maviyane-Davies Chaz is now a professor at the Massachusetts College of Art In 2009 Maviyane- Daves was awarded the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
