President, Debbie Chimeno called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m. and welcomed everyone. She
encouraged senators to pick up and sell at least 5 Chick-Fil-A calendars. They sell for $6 each and money
is due by December 16. Pres. Chimeno reported on Owl Prowl and the Executive Officers’ trip to UGA
for the State Staff Council Conference. She announced that the Chili Cook-Off was happening
concurrent with our meeting in the staff lounge and thanked all the committee chairs for their
outstanding work. Pres. Chimeno shared that Dr. Papp had attended the Executive Board meeting and
was very receptive and responded quickly to some staff concerns that were presented.

August and September minutes were approved.
Vanessa Biggers reported on the state of the treasury; see attachment. The information for the Agency
account and petty cash is included in the report. The information for the Foundation Accounts was
requested from the Foundation but was not received by the morning of the meeting.

Three additional opportunities were presented to serve on the Athletic Board of Directors, Space
Optimization Committee and Public Safety Committee.
Vaughn Williams, Director of Athletics, addressed the senate. He thanked us for our work and stressed
the importance of staff to athletics. He is happy to be working with such high caliber people at KSU and
expressed his commitment to our university and to the students. Athletics wants to be involved in the
KSU community and wants to get the KSU community involved in athletics. Mr. Williams sees athletics
as a “window for people to see this great institution.” He offered the opportunity for anyone to share
ideas on ways to collaborate.
Dr. Dan Papp announced that Chancellor Huckaby will be on campus Thursday. He shared an update on
the facilities approvals and that Interim Provost Harmon is chairing a committee to determine the best
way to utilize our facilities for classes on Friday. Dr. Papp reminded everyone of the parking forums on
campus this week and encouraged senators to attend.
R. Bullock, Staff Senate Community Service Committee, shared that Feed the Future efforts are going
great. History and Philosophy have made great donations. Digital signage is up. Collections continue at
basketball games and will be taking place at the Swing Dance on Nov. 5 and the Alumni Affairs Holiday
Party. The list of items is being expanded and more information will follow on that.
A. Tucker, Staff Senate Public Relations Committee, announced that there will be a new segment at our
staff meetings focusing on the benefits and perks of working at KSU. Ms. Tucker is looking forward to
working with the other committees and helping them to get the word out about what we are doing.
L. Booth, Staff Senate Awards and Recognition Committee, announced that there have been some great
nominations for Employee of the Month and encouraged everyone to continue to nominate staff who
do an outstanding job. The next EOM award will be presented next week.
N. Reckard, KSU Parking and Transportation Committee, reminded everyone of the parking forums being
held this week.
