Identifying Issues:
• Current research is looking at economic self-sufficiency and how to improve conditions for Omaha’s women and children in poverty, with a report to be published later this year.
• The recently published Leadership Conversations shares insights gained from candid interviews with nearly 50 executive women.
• Community task forces continue to meet to address needs identified in the Intimate Partner Violence in Omaha report.

Funding Solutions:
• Eleven local nonprofit agencies that serve women and girls in our community received a total of $115,000 in Excellence and Community Impact grant funding. Among the solutions
  funded by these grants:
  • A dedicated staff was funded at Catholic Charities to focus exclusively on legal services for immigrant women survivors of domestic violence.
  • 250 women participated in Women Build at Habitat for Humanity.
  • 133 women opened a savings account and saved monthly through Family Housing Advisory Services’ Smart Change introductory savings program.

Leading Change:
• A sold-out crowd of 200 attended a February Ready to Run Rally promoting the importance of electing women to office. The rally was followed by a screening of the documentary “Miss
Representation” and panel discussion at Film Streams.
• A Leadership Task Force formed to promote and support women in leadership.
• Twenty-five young female professionals are part of the inaugural class for Women’s Fund Circles that develops young women through mentoring, networking and leadership
  opportunities.
• Quarterly Talk of the Town meetings promote networking opportunities among nonprofit agencies and provide information on topics of interest to those agencies. The August 23
session is on sex trafficking and how agencies can identify and then help victims.

Visit the Women’s Fund website at www.omahawomensfund.org for more information on these initiatives.
