                                       Management address
• Before any unit can be added to ZMS a management
  address needs to be set!

• ZMS supports all IP management connections
   • Inband management (using a VLAN on a trunk port)
   • Outband management (using the 10/100 MGMT port)
   • IPoBridge management (using a VLAN on a trunk port)

• ZMS can not manage a unit using only the serial craft port

                                                   Add node
• To add a manageable unit, either manually specify the address or
  use auto-discovery
• Select region, then right-click and select Add and enter the address

• ZMS will ask for confirmation to begin the configuration
  synchronization
• The synchronization will take longer time if the unit is already
  configured

• A summary will be shown when synchronization is complete
• Click Done, then Close
• To reposition the object on your map, left-click your unit, then right-
  click on the map and select Reposition objects

  then select Modify

• To add line cards, open the Cards item under your newly added unit




• Right-click the card and select Add…

• ZMS will auto-detect the type of card installed in the slot, click the
  right arrow to continue, then Add then OK and finally Close
• Iterate this step for all cards in the system
• Monitor the node, the cards status will be reflected under Cards
• Wait until the cards are marked ‘Running’

• All current alarms will be visible in the bottom part of the ZMS main
  screen



• Alarms can be acknowledged by an operator
• Notes can be added to the alarm in case more than one operator is
  looking into the issue
• Alarms can be forwarded to an specific operator

                                                       Alarms
• As all interfaces are ‘up’ by default
• For a newly installed MXK a number of critical alarms will be active
  (since there are ports open but not connected)
• On the network map, a callout with ‘1C’ means one critical alarm




• To view the alarms, right-click the region on the left pane, then click
  View Alarms - this will show all active alarms in the region
• Right-clicking a unit and selecting View alarms will show alarms
  for the selected node

• Right-click the first alarm, then select Navigate to tree, this will
  open up the object (node, card, port etc) currently sending the
  alarm

• On the newly provisioned unit, we will ‘down’ OLT 2,3 and 4 since
  they are not operational
• Shift-select (click OLT4, hold SHIFT and click OLT2) the three OLTs
• Right-click the selected group, then select Modify

                                                Clearing alarms
• This will open a dialog window with all parameters common for the
  three ports
• Right-click in a whitespace inside the dialog, select Clear All
• For the parameter Admin Status, check the checkbox marked
     Change?
•    Set the value of Admin Status to Down
•    Click Modify, then Close
•    The alarms should now be cleared
•    Reiterate this procedure for any port open but not in use

• Instead manually repeat the configuration, a template is applied on

• Statistics are provided both for physical ports (Ethernet, SHDSL/EFM
  GPON ONU) as well as the logical ports (Bridge interfaces, bond-
  group, Link aggregation groups)
• Select the object, then either right-click selecting Statistics or click
  the statistics icon

• Different interfaces provides different statistics, for example:
   • EFM bond-group; RX/TX traffic, unicast, multicast and broadcast
   • SHDSL/EFM port; DSL statistics, CRC, SNR, RX/TX packets

• The following tasks are required to provision customers
  over EFM
   • Create bond group
   • Assign physical interfaces to the bond group
   • Verifying the bond group and physical interfaces
   • Adding additional services (optional)

•    Automatic bond-group creation is disabled by default
•    Find the SHDSL/EFM card under your newly added MXK
•    Expand the card item using the plus sign
•    Right-click Bond groups, then select Add
•    To add a bond group (using the next free group ID) just click Add
•    To use a customized name, add the name
•    Use Append default name to append the bond group ID (1-1-25-
     0/efmbond) in the bond-group name

   • Create ME, generic and specific profiles*
   • Creating GTP – GPON traffic profiles
   • Assigning FSAN numbers to ONUs



     * Not required for ZNID 42xx units

•    Find the GPON card under the newly added MXK
•    Expand the GPON-4 or GPON-8 card
•    Expand the Physicals
•    Right-click OLT1, select Modify
•    Normally, using the defaults parameters will be sufficient but for
     longer GPON networks, change max and min RT propagation delay
     (default 0µs and 200µs)

• Download the ME file to the /tftpboot directory of the ZMS

• Download the ME file from the ZMS server
   • Right-click the node, select Manage OMCI, Manage ME profile
     then click Add…
   • The ME file is downloaded from the ZMS server to the MXK and
     added as a profile

• Specific profiles can be created port-per-port or for all unused ONUs
  on one OLT at a time

   • One ONU requires the ONU number
   • All unused ONUs will create specific profile for all ONUs on the
     OLT

• To add an upstream bridge for data traffic, perform these steps:

     1. Right-click the node, select Manage bridging, then click Add…
     2. First, select the physical port; open Slot A and select the
        appropriate Ethernet interface
     3. On the right pane:
         1.   Choose the Uplink bridge type, select either single or double tag,
              then finally enter the VLAN id
         2.   Or – use a predefined template – mark Use Template and select
              the appropriate template
         3.   Click Add
     4. If the added bridge is an asymmetric Uplink, a static bridge-
        path will be automatically created

• To add an downstream bridge for data traffic over a GPON
  connection, perform these steps:

     1.   Right-click the node, select Manage bridging, then click Add
     2.   Open the GPON card and select the appropriate OLT and ONU
     3.   Select the GPON port ID prefix (3xx, 5xx, etc)
     4.   Select the correct GTP (or use a template)
     5.   On the right pane:
          1.   Choose the bridge type, select either single or double tag, and
               finally enter the VLAN id
          2.   Or – use a predefined template – mark Use Template and select
               the appropriate template
          3.   Click Add

• Bridge rules are configured under Manage bridging
• Templates can be used, both for the bridge rule group and bridge
  rule member
• To add a bridge rule group with two members, perform the
  following steps

     1. Right-click the node, select Manage bridging, click the tab
        Bridge filtering, then click Add
     2. Name the group, add the first rule member and any parameters
     3. The group is now created, as well as the first member
     4. Select the newly created rule group, then add a new member
        by clicking Add on the right pane
