I.     TITLE - THIS SHOULD REFLECT CLEARLY WHAT IS BEING DONE
       IN THE LAB.

II.    RESEARCH QUESTION - A QUESTION DESCRIBING EXACTLY
       WHAT IS BEING TESTED IN THE LABORATORY. (Be certain to
       include the independent and dependent variable in the question.)

III.   HYPOTHESIS AND EXPLANATION - SHOULD TAKE THE FORM OF:
       IF --------------, THEN -----------, BECAUSE ------------------. BE CERTAIN
       TO EXPLAIN THE REASONING FOR YOUR HYPOTHESIS. THIS
       EXPLANATION SHOULD INVOLVE A SOUND SCIENTIFIC
       KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING. (If you are saying there will be
       an increase or a decrease because of some independent variable, state how
       much.)

IV.    VARIABLES - NAME AND EXPLAIN THE FOLLOWING:
       INDEPENDENT, DEPENDENT, AND CONTROLLED VARIABLES.
       (Provide a clear explanation of each.)

V.     MATERIALS AND PROCEDURE - ALL MATERIALS ARE CLEARLY
       LISTED. BE VERY SPECIFIC ANT INCLUSIVE OF THE MATERIALS.
       A DRAWING OR ANNOTATED DIGITAL PICTURE OF ANY
       APPARATUS USED IS RECOMMENDED. THE PROCEDURE SHOULD
       BE DETAILED AND CLEAR. IT SHOULD BE IN NUMBERED STEPS.
       A FELLOW EXPERIMENTER MUST BE ABLE TO READ YOUR
       PROCEDURE AND DUPLICATE YOUR RESULTS. BE CERTAIN TO
       EXPLAIN HOW YOU INTEND TO CONTROL EACH OF THE
       VARIABLES. ALSO, BE VERY SPECIFIC ABOUT HOW YOU INTEND
       TO MEASURE THE DEPENDENT VARIABLE. INCLUDE PROVISIONS
       FOR REPEATS AND/OR ADEQUATE SAMPLE SIZE.

VI.    RAW DATA - THIS IS A TABLE PRESENTATION OF THE DATA
       COLLECTED WHILE CARRYING OUT THE EXPERIMENT. MAKE
       SURE PROPER UNITS AND PRECISION ARE INCLUDED. WITH
       QUANTITATIVE DATA, THE MEASUREMENTS ARE USUALLY WITH
       S.I. UNITS. TITLE ANY TABLES AND/OR DRAWINGS. ALL DATA
       SHOULD BE REPRESENTED AND PRESENTATION OF THE DATA
       SHOULD BE PRECISE WITH THE CORRECT NUMBER OF
       SIGNIFICANT DIGITS.
VII.   DATA PROCESSING AND PRESENTATION - THIS OFTEN INCLUDES
       A GRAPH (THE GRAPH MUST BE ACCORDING TO SCIENCE
       STANDARDS). SOME MANIPULATION OF THE RAW DATA MUST BE
       INCLUDED. THIS MAY INCLUDE A STATISTICAL ANALYSIS. ALL
       GRAPHS AND TABLES MUST INCLUDE PRECISION. FOR ANY
       STATISTICAL ANALYSIS BE CERTAIN TO EXPLAIN THE PROCESS
       INVOLVED.


VIII. CONCLUSIONS AND EVALUATION - EXPLAIN ANY CONCLUSIONS
      THAT MAY BE MADE FROM THE DATA OBTAINED. BE CERTAIN
      TO MENTION SPECIFIC DATA IN YOUR EXPLANATION OF THE
      CONCLUSION. MAKE SURE “WHY” IS ADDRESSED HERE.
      RESULTS FROM THE LITERATURE SHOULD BE MENTIONED IN
      THIS SECTION AND COMPARED TO YOUR FINDINGS. EXPLAIN
      WHAT YOU WOULD DO TO IMPROVE THE EXPERIMENT IF YOU
      COULD REPEAT IT, AND DISCUSS WHAT YOU WOULD DO NEXT TO
      FURTHER YOUR RESEARCH IN THIS AREA. THE TREATMENT OF
      IMPROVING THE PROCEDURE SHOULD NOT BE SUPERFICIAL. IT
      SHOULD REFLECT CAREFUL THOUGHT AND CONSIDERATION.
