Amazing Retreats Announces New Team as Strategy Changes
Amazing Retreats, a luxury collection of iconic and historic properties, is delighted to
introduce its new dedicated and experienced management team, who will be responsible
for implementing a new strategy for the company in 2012 and beyond. A rapidly growing
business, headed up by founder and executive chairman Mike Clare, Amazing Retreats
hopes to offer the very best in unique UK venues, for special occasions and exclusive use.
Amazing Retreats’ new strategy will see the company invest heavily in developing their
current collection, as well as purchasing new properties that will be converted into luxurious
and unusual hotels with a minimum of 25 bedrooms.
All of the properties in the Amazing Retreats collection will cater to the exclusive-use,
individual stay, weddings, corporate and events markets. All will include a restaurant, bar,
function space and spa and will be located in spectacular surrounding with extensive
grounds and full staff.
Greg Ward, Director of Sales and Operations at Amazing Retreats commented: “The
expansion of our team reflects the rapid growth of Amazing Retreats as we focus on larger
and more iconic hotel properties. We have brought a wealth of hospitality experience and
knowledge to the company which will help drive the Amazing Retreats brand forward.”
The People Behind the Brand
Brooke White - Marketing Manager, Amazing Retreats
Based at the company’s headquarters in Stokenchurch,
Brooke’s role will see her take control of the company’s
marketing and communication strategy. Brooke will oversee a
number of areas including improving brand presence and
awareness, identifying and implementing new opportunities
and partnerships and generating demand for Amazing
Retreats’ portfolio of properties.
With a background in luxury hospitality, Brooke joins Amazing
Retreats from Great Hotels of the World where she held the
position of Marketing and PR Manager.
Kate Powell - Business Development Manager, Amazing Retreats
Kate Joins Amazing Retreats as Business Development
manager with several years’ experience in hospitality working
for boutique hotels and the largest hotel group in the world.
Most recently at DeVere Village, Kate specialises in the
meetings and incentives market and has strong corporate and
agency relationships. A finalist in the National Sales Awards
2011, Kate's role will see her working closely with the general
managers and sales and marketing teams to develop new
strategies to penetrate the market and raise the profile of
Amazing Retreats.
Gerwyn Morgan – General Manager of Plas Rhianfa
With a 20-year hospitality background, Gerwyn
joined Amazing Retreats in 2010 when he looked after the
company’s exclusive use properties in South Wales.
Gerwyn has recently been promoted to General Manager
at Plas Rhianfa on Anglesey, North Wales. His new role as GM
will see him take control of this outstanding property while
working closely with the marketing and operations
departments at Amazing Retreats making Plas Rhianfa the
premier venue on the Welsh Island of Anglesey.
Simon Downes – General Manager of Carberry Tower
Simon joined Amazing Retreats in June of this year as General
Manager of the exclusive use venue Kinnettles Castle, Forfar, a
chic and contemporary venue and favourite with celebrity guests.
Simon has now been appointed to also manage the recently
acquired 15th century castle, Carberry Tower, near Edinburgh
which is undergoing a transformation to be a 4 star deluxe hotel
by March 2011.
A former Sales and Marketing Director for a number of hotel
chains including Swallow Hotels and Crerar Hotels, Simon has also
held the position of Regional Director with Forte Hotels
overseeing responsibility for 138 hotels and over 5,000 bedrooms.
In the past two years, Simon has owned Impact Sales and Marketing, a leisure and hotel
focused management consultancy, with 15 years of experience in the hotels and leisure
industry.
Ian Pollock – General Manager, Stanbrook Abbey
Ian will be responsible for managing Stanbrook Abbey and co-
ordinating the pre-opening phases of the property. Being
based on-site, Ian will be involved in the design and
construction of the property.
Having over 25 years’ experience in quality hotels in the UK,
Holland and Southern Africa Ian brings a wealth of experience
to Amazing Retreats.
In his most recent role as General Manager of Crewe Hall he
successfully repositioned the hotel in the national conference
and events market after a £12 million investment. Crewe Hall
was the venue of choice for 161 weddings in 2010 and Ian
hopes to bring his experience in the events market to Stanbrook Abbey and make it the
venue of choice in the West Midlands.
Diane Lewis – Sales & Operations co-ordinator, Amazing Retreats
Diane has recently joined the Amazing Retreats head office team
as Sales and Operations Co-ordinator. Diane’s main duties are to
provide project based and administrative support to the
operations team, as well as PA support to the Sales & Operations
Director, Greg Ward. This is Diane’s first role in the Hospitality
Industry as she has previously worked in fast paced PA and team
support roles in the recruitment sector. Diane is keen to offer her
initiative and aims to streamline admin processes along the way.
