New Information…
Family Pictures: Each 4th grade student is being asked to bring in a 4 x 6 framed
photo of their family to display in their classroom. They will be treasured during
the school year and returned in June. We want to create a warm, friendly
environment in our classrooms and celebrating our families is one way to honor each
4th grader. Pictures can be casual…..recent or not. Small wood or plastic frames
preferred (not glass). Thanks for your support! Please send to school by Sept.

Edison Handbooks: If you have not returned the Edison Expectations
Contract/Release of Information on the last page of the Edison Resource
Handbook please do so at your earliest convenience.

Book Reports Change: Students will create a “People Pop-Up” this month for their
September book report. We are reading the chapter book, Because of Winn-Dixie,
during reading groups and will start the September book report in class.
Expectations will be discussed and handed out next week. Book reports will be due
on Sept. 28th.

Accelerated Reader: Students were able to check out books this week in library.
We have reviewed the expectation that all fourth graders are reading and testing
on AR books so that they earn a minimum of 5 points per month. Please help your
child establish a 20 – 30 minute reading time each night to support their efforts
towards this goal. The top male and female AR point-earner for the school year are
rewarded with brand new bikes at our year-end assembly. Happy reading, fourth

Edison PTA: It’s not too late to send in your PTA form. It was sent home in last
week’s Friday Envelope. The class that has the most parents join PTA this year
will win a pizza party for the entire class……let’s make it a 4th grade class.
PTA meets the first Tuesday every month after school and is working to put on
lots of fun event for the entire family this year. It’s a great way to get to know
other Edison families and staff.

GOAL Friday: Students may wear middle school, high school, or college shirts on
Fridays as a way to set goals relating to students’ future educational journey.

 Daily Assignment Books should be monitored, signed, and returned daily.

 Friday Envelopes should be emptied, signed, and returned on Monday.

 Students need to be to school by 8:45 a.m. as 4th graders are off to
       Specialists at 9:00 a.m.
