It has been brought to my attention that there are concerns
amongst some parents regarding staffing in KS2.
This is something we have taken seriously and have planned
to address over the last couple of years.
It is never ideal to have more than one teacher in a class for
many reasons but it is not uncommon in small schools for two
teachers to job share as this means they both share responsi-
bility for the class from a pastoral and a teaching point of view. This can only
be achieved by having two permanent teachers.
It is never ideal for the Head Teacher to be removed from leadership duties in
order to take this role and invariably this causes disruption in the class when
important issues arise and they are needed elsewhere; nor is it ideal to have
a variety of supply teachers responsible for a class as continuity is easily lost.
Therefore the Governors and I have been looking to secure a permanent job
share through the budget on a long term basis for some time.
At the recent Finance and Staffing Committee meeting of the Governing Body
the matter was discussed in depth and we are now in a position to be able to
advertise for another teacher to operate on a permanent, job share basis with
Mrs Brown. This will be less disruptive for the children and make them feel
that they have 2 class teachers rather than one teacher and stand-ins! It also
means that I will be able to regain time to support staff in raising standards
throughout the school.
We hope to make a suitable appointment as soon as possible.
There is also some other exciting news...but I’ll leave that to Ruth Gibbons,
our Chair of Governors to disclose in her letter that is in book bags tonight!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! Ms Cad :)
