E-BULLETINS – Weekly information updates will be issued on the first school day of each
week. A new feature this year is a quick reference list of upcoming “Dates to Remember”
located at the bottom of the bulletin. During September, the bulletins will be sent to all
families. Beginning in October, only those who have subscribed will receive the bulletins. If you
have not already done so, please click on the Subscribe Here link on the school’s home page to
enter your e-mail information. You may enter more than one address per family. If you have
already subscribed, you do not need to re-subscribe. The e-bulletins will keep you informed of
all the important dates and events at the school.
FORMS! FORMS! FORMS! - Please complete and return your forms to the teacher as
quickly as possible. As well, it is very important that you complete the electronic permission
forms. Look for the link on the school’s Parent page “Complete the Policies and Procedures
Form Here”
MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT – Parents and Guardians: Please plan to attend the Meet the
Teacher Night for parents. The evening begins at 7:00 in the gym with an overview by Mme
Trudeau. At 7:20, parents move to their child’s classroom where teachers will review the
curriculum, classroom expectations, volunteer opportunities and lots of other important
information. For families with more than one child, the sessions will be repeated at 7:40. Please
note, this is not the time for discussions about individual students. If you wish to speak privately
about your child, please make an appointment with the teacher. This is an adult only event.
SCHOOL CALENDARS – Make sure you take a look at the Annual Calendar located in the
Publications section of the Cedardale website. The calendar provides a list of holidays,
Professional Development days and other major school events. For the most up-to-date listing
of all events, check the monthly calendar page by clicking on the calendar link at the bottom left
side of the school’s home page.
MORNING ROUTINE – The time before school is an important time for teachers to prepare
for the day and to collaborate with each other. Unless you have a scheduled appointment,
students and parents must remain outside the school until the warning bell rings at 8:50.
Supervision is provided in the undercover area next to the parking lot beginning at 8:40. The
drive-through drop-off service also begins at 8:40. Please refer to the Parent Handbook for
details.
OVERDUE LIBRARY MATERIALS - Please ensure that any overdue library books are
returned to the library immediately or pay the lost book fines. You should have received a letter
from the library with your child's report card in June 2012 if any library items were missing.
Please note: Students will not be able to check out materials until they have cleared their
record.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS IN THE LIBRARY - If you are interested in helping to shelve
books as well as completing other library tasks, please see Mme Christiane Boulet in the library
before the bell on Monday or Wednesday mornings, or email her to indicate your availability:
cboulet@sd45.bc.ca
CROSS COUNTRY (Grades 3 to 7) – Practices started this morning for our athletes in
Grades 3 to 7 who wish to participate in Ecole Cedardale’s team for the District cross-country
meets. For more details, please refer to the letter and registration form on the school website
in the Extracurricular Activities section of Publications.
ECOLE CEDARDALE GYM STRIP – Show your school pride! Watch for ordering
information this week for your Ecole Cedardale gym strip. Once again, T-shirts, shorts, hoodies
and sweatpants with the school logo will be available. While the purchase is optional, we
strongly encourage you to purchase school T-shirts for use during District athletic events such as
cross-country, track, basketball etc. and for community events such as Community Day.
WELCOME BACK FAMILY BBQ – Ecole Cedardale’s Grade 7 Class invites everyone to a
Welcome Back BBQ and Fair on Friday September 14 from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available
on the MunchaLunch website accessed from the Parents Fun Lunch page or in person outside
the office every day before school beginning at 8:30 (or e-mail vickimlee@shaw.ca). Cost is
$5.00 for a BBQ combo. Dessert is $1.00. Bring lots of toonies as the Grade 7’s will be hosting 8
different games at $2.00 each game. All proceeds help support the Grade 7 Quebec trip in
February 2013. (A big thank you to Whole Foods Market Park Royal who sponsored the hot
dogs.)
SAFE ARRIVAL / CALL-BACK – Safe Arrival / Call-Back service ensures that all children are
accounted for every day. Please remember to call the safe arrival line (604 981-1234 mailbox
1602) to report your child’s absence or late arrival. If we don’t know where your child is, you
will receive a phone call from the school. Volunteers for this very important safety service are
urgently required. Please contact Maureen Shivhare for information about the volunteer
positions.
PAC MEETING (Parent Advisory Council) – First meeting of the year Friday September 14 at
9:00 a.m. in the Library. Please check out the agenda on the Parent page of the school’s
website.
FUN LUNCH – This great fundraiser is back. Ordering is open now and closes September 21st.
To see the menu selections and to order, please go to the Fun Lunch section on the Parents page
