I am leading TEAM NAME in honor of HONOR PATIENT at the 2012 Head for the Cure 5K – Columbia, and I invite
you to join me.
HONOR PATIENT was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme tumor in July 2011. She is undergoing treatment
at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, but she will be back in town to attend the event and looks forward to
Head for the Cure 5K – Columbia takes place at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, in downtown Columbia.
This popular family-friendly event encourages families and friends to run or walk in support of brain tumor
patients. Many teams show their solidarity by wearing a customized T-shirt for their patient, and we will be
providing a TEAM NAME T-shirt for you to wear to show your support. You can also show your support by donating
to the TEAM NAME fundraising page at INSERT WEB ADDRESS HERE. When you register at
www.headforthecure.org, make sure to sign up to be a member of TEAM NAME.
Each year about 200,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. Improving the
outlook for adults and children requires research of the causes and better treatment.
A donation to the Head for the Cure 5K – Columbia supports the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC) at MD
Anderson Cancer Center, which s a network of NCI-accredited medical centers with the expertise and the
desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain
