ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Safety Supervisor (Human Resources Supervisor) manages the Human Resources
Department’s Safety Section, including a staff of 13 employees, and directs organization-wide safety
programs for a workforce of over 14,000 employees. Duties include:

   Administering the Third-Party Administration (TPA) of a self-insured industrial insurance program;
   Managing Worker's Compensation claims (approximately 2,000 claims per year with annual
    expenditures of $18 million);
   Administering contracts for occupational medical services, workers compensation third-party
    administration, and occupational physical therapy services;
   Ensuring compliance with OSHA standards in the workplace and coordinating Citywide efforts
    directed at reducing OSHA Incident Rates;
   Managing the Industrial Hygiene program;
   Managing the Fleet Safety program.

RECRUITMENT DATES
Recruitment closes March 19, 2012. All materials must be received by 11:59 p.m. on this date.

SALARY
$62,691 - $93,392 annually. Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon
qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Seeking bachelor’s in safety management, risk management, environmental safety, or related field
and five years of professional-level experience in accident prevention, investigation programs, or
occupational safety and health, with at least two years at the advanced / senior-professional level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
For the current vacancy in the Safety Section, preferred qualifications include:
    Supervisory experience
    Experience administering contracts, particularly for safety-related services (e.g., occupational
       medical services, workers compensation third-party administration, and occupational physical
       therapy services)
    Experience managing workers compensation claims
    Experience ensuring compliance with OSHA standards in the workplace, and implementing
       programs to reduce incident rates
    Experience managing industrial hygiene programs and fleet safety programs
