DNA Model Project Your assignment is to create a three - dimensional model of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid). This is due MONDAY, DECEMBER 13. Your project must show: Anti-parallel Sugar/Phosphate Backbone (show the distinct molecules) Nitrogen Bases paired appropriately (A=T and G=C) Double Helix Hydrogen bonds A key for your model (you must include: deoxyribose, phosphate group, adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine, hydrogen bonds) You may use most any material you choose – clay, styrofoam, wood, beads, wire, fabric, plastic, etc. Please do not make a DNA model out of food. Your model can be free-standing or it can hang from a string. It must be sturdy enough to transport to class without falling apart. DO NOT USE ANY STORE-BOUGHT DNA BUILDING KITS!!!!! The color, size, and style of your DNA model is up to you. Your creativity and personality should come through! This will count as a lab/project. Your final grade will be determined in this way: Completion 30% Accuracy 50% Creativity 20% Refer to your notes and textbook for pictures, drawings, and explanations of DNA’s structure and function.
