Appeal Process:
Appeals must be submitted, in writing, on form provided by the North Dakota Envirothon.

No verbal arguments on appeals are allowed. Verbal harassment of an appeals committee member may be grounds for
the disqualification of the team.

Only the registered team advisor/teacher/captain may file an appeal.

Appeals are to be submitted to a member of the North Dakota State Envirothon Appeals Committee.

Appeals, regarding written tests, must be submitted no later than one hour after the conclusion of the final rotation to a
member of the North Dakota State Envirothon Appeals Committee.

Appeals, regarding the preliminary oral presentation round, must be submitted not later than 30 minutes after the
conclusion of the final rotation to a member of the North Dakota State Envirothon Appeals Committee.

Appeals, regarding the final presentation round, must be submitted no later than 30 minutes after the final presentation to
a member of the North Dakota State Envirothon Appeals Committee. (What happens if we find out AFTER the
competition a team cheated? Question asked by Wendy W.)

No appeal will be accepted without a written potential solution(s).

Items which can be appealed:

Any infraction regarding North Dakota rules.

Example: Team uses a tape recorder during teaching trails/presentation.
Example: Team introduces themselves as being from XYZ.

Items which cannot be appealed:

Those events or happenings that do not apply to a specific North Dakota rule.

The Appeals Committee will provide a written response to the team teacher/advisor/captain filing the appeal as quickly
as possible after the conclusion of the final round of the written tests and after the conclusion of the final rotation of the
preliminary and final oral presentations.

The decision of the Appeals Committee is final. *

* A representative of the Appeals Committee will be at a previously announced central location to accept and/or discuss
potential appeals.
