Membership Application Procedure
4.1 Membership
    Membership of the Club shall be open to anyone interested in sailing on application, regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity,
    nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs.
4.2 Categories of Membership
    See categories and fees overleaf.
4.3 Application
4.3.1 Proposal
    Every candidate should complete an application form. This should include recommendation by a proposer and seconder who are
    either members of the club or some other respected members of the local community.
4.3.2 Application process
    The application form will be displayed on a notice board in the Clubhouse for at least ten days, for all members to see.
    If no objections are raised within the ten days the Membership Secretary will invite the applicant to a new members’ meeting with
    Club Officers who will explain how the club works and discuss with the applicant their interest in sailing.
    At the end of the meeting, provided that none of reasons for rejection, detailed in 4.5 below have been found, the Officers will
    offer the applicant a probationary membership.
    The Membership Secretary will report the new membership to the next General Committee Meeting and will invoice the new
    member with the fees due.
    If at any stage there are any objections to the applicant’s membership of the Club the committee will seek full details from the
    objector and explanation from the applicant.
4.4 Probation
    For twelve months from the date of joining the Club, a member shall be considered a probationary member. During that time they
    may not propose or second other new members nor stand for a position on the General Committee. Membership can be
    cancelled at any time during this period if any of the factors in 4.5 become known.
4.5 Exclusion or Expulsion
    The Club Committee may refuse membership, or revoke it, only for good cause, such as conduct or character, likely to bring the
    Club or the sport into disrepute. Appeal against refusal or removal may be made to the General Committee.
