Terms and Conditions

Post: Carer Support Worker
Working hours:
As and when required within agreed availability, (full time or part time)
Current rates of Pay: (under review)
8am to 8pm (basic) £6.53, 8pm to 8am (enhanced) £7.89, Overnight stay
awake £8.13, Weekend, £9.34, Bank Holiday £9.34
Holiday Entitlement:
5.6 weeks per annum pro rata with an additional 2 days holiday after 5 years
service.
Travel Allowance:
For car users the mileage rate is 38p per mile within the boundary of
Gateshead up to 10,000 miles per year. Bus fares are paid at cost.
Trade Union Membership:
Appropriate trade union membership is recognised.
Probationary Period:
The appointment is subject to a probationary period of twenty six weeks.
During the probationary period employment may be terminated by one week’s
notice in writing given by either side.
Sickness:
A discretionary company sick pay scheme is in operation, which is open to
employees following successful completion of their probationary period.
During the probationary period Statutory Sick Pay will be payable.
Other:
An Enhanced Certificate, including a Protection of Vulnerable Adults check,
issued by the Criminal Records Bureau and pre employment health screening
are required.
It is recommended that all care staff coming into contact with bodily fluids
should normally be required to be immunised against Hepatitis B. There may
be certain exceptions, e.g. pregnancy or a pre-existing medical condition, or
personal choice.
