Overall Purpose of the Job
The highly motivated and self servicing post holder will be responsible for raising income from
both events and corporate sources. He/She will help to initiate, plan and deliver an annual
calendar of events, ensuring they remain within budget and meet or exceed their individual
targets. He/She will deliver high quality and value corporate relationships for RFUK. He/She will
play a leading role in developing and initiating relationships with corporate supporters who will
contribute significantly to RFUKs income.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
 To develop an annual strategy for Events and Corporate Partnerships with the Head of
   Fundraising and Communications that will contribute to meeting the new 18-month and 3-
   year events fundraising objectives as set out in the Business Plan 2008-2010 and be
   responsible for delivering those targets to the best of your ability.
 To identify and respond to events opportunities, which arise from other areas of the
   fundraising department including Corporate Partnerships; Major Donor cultivation and
   support; Individual Giving Fundraising, as well as from campaigns and project work.
 To be responsible for the development and maintenance of events and corporate
   fundraising content on RFUK’s website
 To maintain proper files and data records on potential/actual events-related donors
   (individuals and corporate) and corporate fundraising initiatives as appropriate;

1. Events Fundraising
 To identify and develop new events fundraising opportunities, making recommendations to
    the Head of Fundraising and Communications based on their viability, likely cost:income
    ratios, risks and opportunities for long-term income generation.
   To plan and prepare events carefully from the initial stages of developing the concept
    through to budgeting, risk assessment, implementation and completion.
   To source in-kind donations where appropriate and to keep records of donations
   To maintain accurate accounts for each event
   To work with external suppliers, ensuring competitive rates
   To meet agreed income targets and monitor and evaluate income streams on a regular
   To source and establish relations with event sponsors, advertisers and donors of prizes
   To liaise and establish relations with celebrities and encourage their involvement with
    Fundraising events.
   To liaise with the communications team to ensure that all PR and Marketing opportunities
    for events are maximised.
   To ensure all printed event material complies with RFUK’s corporate identity and
   To manage volunteers and/or staff working on Events in agreement with your line-manager;
   To be responsible for handling and responding to enquiries and communications from
    individual events-participants and providing necessary information and support to such
   To ensure that there is efficient ‘carry-through’ of fundraising event to the individual
    fundraising programme.

2. Corporate Partnership Fundraising
Working in conjunction with the Head of Fundraising and Communications the post holder will:
 Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of corporate giving trends and the market
 To maintain and develop the Foundation’s relationships with its current corporate donors
    and joint marketing partners.
 To identify, research and develop new corporate fundraising initiatives, in order to secure
    specific and general funds.
 Produce creative, winning proposals and presentations for corporate support including
    charity of the year and sponsorships
 Help create a range of corporate fundraising products that will help secure large scale
 Devise and implement quality donor care programmes and account management
 Ensure that RFUK complies with the terms and conditions of all corporate grants, funds and
 Work with Individual Giving Fundraising to develop employee fundraising activities
 Seek out and secure CRM opportunities and promotions
 Implement an ethical fundraising policy to ensure that RFUK is not associated with
    companies whose activities are in conflict with its mission.

Essential Qualifications/Skills/experience/
 Minimum 2 years’ proven track record of organising events that generate significant income
 Proven ability to manage special events such as large scale galas, dinners, challenge and
   sports events
 Demonstrable corporate fundraising skills with an understanding of corporate donor
   motivations or experience of marketing/sales environment
 Track record of success in achieving targets in corporate fundraising or in a sales/marketing
 Demonstrable ability to establish, nurture and retain corporate relationships and to
   maximise income from these relationships
 Demonstrable ability and ease in communicating appropriately with a wide range of stake-
   holders through presentations, telephone or in writing;
 Demonstrable negotiation, influencing, and diplomacy skills
 A good portfolio of events contacts;
 Experience in delivering projects to agreed standards and deadlines.
 Budgetary and strategy development experience;
 Excellent IT skills with experience of web research and using databases.
 Self starter with the ability to use own initiative and work independently
 Ability to develop good working relationships internally and externally.
 Excellent organisational skills
 Ability to juggle tasks efficiently and meet tight deadlines.
 High level of integrity and able to keep calm under pressure.
 Empathy with and commitment to the Rainforest Foundation’s Vision and Mission.

 Demonstrable ability and ease in communicating appropriately with celebrities
 Direct experience of working in the corporate sector and of networking
 Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish

Employment package
   The post is permanent subject to satisfactory completion of 6 months’ probationary
   Starting salary: NJC pay scale 28 (£26,024)
   Non-contributory pension (4% of salary, commencing on satisfactory completion of 6
      months’ probationary period)
   28 days’ holiday per annum + bank and public holidays.
